Andrade looking pretty good against Vanes looks like he's going to get a decision. The guy looks massive for 154, 6-1 and just his broad shoulders and big body frame. He's also showing a number of flaws though. Kinda wild looping hooks which makes him vulnerable for counters, kinda sloppy at times. But his speed, length and jab will be a problem for most anyone to deal with at 154. Good step up though finally. Vanes amateur record is thw who's who of boxing beat guys like Timothy Bradley, Andre Berto, etc. Lara should have got the W in their fight though which was a draw.

Your posting in the wrong thread lol. That win wasn't impressive at all by Donaire. Congrats on finally getting to the old man in the 9th round. Was hoping Vic would land a deadly left oh well.

Victor Ortiz will return to face Luis Collazo.

Victor Ortiz has finally found his comeback opponent this time around. According to a report by RingTV's Lem Satterfield, Ortiz is set to fight Luis Collazo, a former WBA welterwight champion. Golden Boy's CEO Richard Schaefer and matchmaker Eric Gomez confirmed the news to Satterfield.

The fight will take place on January 30 in (where else?) the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Collazo was once a legitimate welterweight contender, but that was a few years ago. His first big break came when he received the opportunity to face Ricky Hatton in Hatton's first foray into the 147 pound class. After getting briefly dropped in the first round, Collazo recovered to give the British superstar all that he could handle, maybe more, but went home on the losing end of a close decision. The next year he faced Shane Mosley when Mosley still had some juice and was clearly outclassed, although he claimed a hand injury in the aftermath. Finally, his last big bout was against Andre Berto, back before Berto was a punchline for being the gatekeeper to getting a payday versus Floyd Mayweather. Collazo rocked Berto in the first but once again couldn't quite get the decision, and went home empty-handed.

Recently, Collazo has stayed relatively busy, winning a pair of bouts earlier this year to bounce back from his last loss, a decision to Freddy Hernandez. Hernandez seemed like a guy that a prime Collazo would have handled, but it appears Collazo has slowed down some since his best contender days. However, he is still just 32, hardly ancient in today's boxing world when men are competing well into their late-30's and early-40's.

If Collazo shows up in the best condition possible, I think this could be a very interesting fight.

Here's a quick rundown of what Victor Ortiz has been up to: Facial lube (Apparently the video has been taken down because it violated YouTube rules or something. Tragic, I know.)

Mikey Garcia wants Yuriorkis Gamboa next

yuriorkis gamboa roman martinez mikey garcia By Dan Ambrose: Newly crowned WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28 KO’s) is targeting interim WBA lightweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KO’s) next following Mikey’s 8th round KO win over WBO super featherweight champion Roman “Rocky” Martinez (27-2-2, 16 KO’s) last Saturday night at the American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Garcia said this to HBO about a potential fight against Gamboa: “I’m willing to go up and meet him at 135 if he doesn’t want to come down. I think it would be a great fight. People would want to see it. Why not? Let’s do it. I think anybody they put in front of me, I’m ready to fight.”

It’s pretty clear that Mikey would have to move up in weight to get a fight against the 31-year-old Gamboa, and even then it’s still debatable whether Gamboa will take the fight. Mikey’s promoter Bob Arum will have to make a big offer to Gamboa to get him to take the fight because he be content to wait until he gets a title shot against WBA lightweight champion Richard Abril instead, because that’s a much more winnable fight for Gamboa than a fight against Mikey. If Gamboa wasn’t willing to fight Brandon Rios in the past, then it’s difficult to see him agreeing to fight Mikey.

A fight between Mikey and Gamboa would be a toss up at this point. Gamboa is fast, powerful and an excellent counter puncher. Mikey has never fought anyone remotely as good as Gamboa and this could turn out badly for him if Gamboa uses his speed to press the fight. We saw last night that Mikey looked vulnerable when Ramon Martinez was coming forward and pressuring him. It wasn’t until Martinez backed off and let Mikey fight at his slow pace that Mikey was able to start doing well.

If Gamboa pressures Mikey with flurries and power shots, we could see Mikey on the canvas just like we did last night. One gets the sense that Mikey doesn’t take shots too well. His offense is his defense, and it looks like Mikey isn’t the type of fighter that can take a lot of punishment without getting hurt or knocked out. Gamboa has the kind of power and skills to expose Mikey, and he’s also smart enough to know that he can’t let Mikey have a lot of time to set up his shots. Mikey doesn’t fight well when things are thrown into chaos because he needs to think for him to fight well. If Gamboa takes the fight to him and rakes him with shots, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mikey on the canvas looking up at the lights before long.

The real question is whether Gamboa will take this fight. Bob Arum of Top Rank has the money to lure Gamboa into the fight, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be willing to open up his wallet to make this fight happen because Mikey isn’t a pay-per-view type of attraction, so the big money won’t be there without HBO being willing to come up with a lot of money to show this fight. Will they do that? I doubt it.

WBO orders Ricky Burns vs. Terence Crawford negotiations

Terence Crawford Burns Crawford Burns vs. Crawford ricky burns By SCott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (36-2-1, 11 KO’s) can forget about fighting Raymundo Beltran in an immediate rematch unless his promoter can talk the WBO into letting him bypass his #1 WBO challenger Terence Crawford (22-0, 16 KO’s), as the WBO has reportedly ordered negotiations to take place between Burns and Crawford’s promoters, says Fightnews.com.

They have 30 days to reach an agreement before it goes to purse bids. If you’re Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, this probably has to be interpreted as really bad news because Crawford is a nightmare opponent for Burns. Heck, he’s a nightmarish opponent for anyone in the 135 lb. division, and doesn’t that the fight will probably be stage in Glasgow, Scotland, the home city of Burns.

It’s probably still possible for Hearn to circumvent the WBO’s ruling if they can somehow get Burns in a title unification bout against one of the other lightweight champions. That might be Burns’ best bet because if he can beat one of the champions like IBF champ Miguel Vazquez or WBA champion Richard Abril, then Burns can vacate the WBO title and avoid a potential one-sided loss to Crawford.

That would be the smart thing for Burns and Hearn to do, but they obviously don’t have a lot of time to try and negotiate a unification fight to avoid Crawford. Another option they have is to give Crawford a step aside payment to pay to get out of the way for a while so that Burns can fight Beltran again. I don’t see that happening though because Hearn would have to open up his piggy bank to find the cash to give to Crawford to get him to get lost for a while. I mean, if this was Golden Boy Promotions, then I could see them doing it because they’ve got deep pockets and could easily make a move like that. But I don’t see it happening with Burns’ promoter making that move.

The the most drastic move for Burns to avoid the Crawford fight would be to take the nuclear option by simply vacating the WBO title and skedaddling away. Don’t laugh. Burns that once before when he was going to have to face Adrien Broner when he was the WBO super featherweight champion and Broner was his mandatory challenger.

If Burns dumps the WBO title, he can then can either move up in weight to fight at light welterweight, which I wouldn’t advise him to do, or he can in line and wait his turn as a challenger for IBF champion Miguel Vazquez. He would seem to be the easiest mark in the lightweight division among the champions. If Burns waits until Adrien Broner vacates his WBC lightweight title, then he can go after that strap, but the problem is there’s a whole bunch of guys in front of him and it might take a while to get a shot at the belt unless Hearn can lure them over to the UK to let Burns get a shot at the title by enticing them with potential pay-per-view money.

Golovkin's Manager: Murray Refuses To Fight Gennady
Click Here To Email Printable version Search BoxingScene Database*

By Gregory Stangrit

Oleg Hermann, manager of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25KOs), says British fighter Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KOs) has refused to face his boxer. They wanted to fight Murray on February 1 at Salle des etoiles in Monte Carlo, but Hermann says Murray is refusing to accept the fight. The WBA placed Murray in line as the mandatory challenger to Golovkin.

On Saturday, reports surfaced that Murray was going to face Golovkin on the February date. Murray later denied the reports,*stating that he*was scheduled*to fight on the same show in separate*bout, and looked forward to facing Golovkin in the near future.

"Murray does not want to box Golovkin and for a long time he's refused to do so. Gennady primarily wanted to go against Murray, and we were glad that the WBA*ordered this fight. Unfortunately, Murray refuses to go against Golovkin. We changed our plan and we're negotiating with another opponent. In the next few days, we will know [who Golovkin will face]," Hermann said.

Murray is the mandatory challenger to GGG's belt. How does the mandatory duck the champion? Lol smh @ Murray/Ricky Hatton. What's going to happen though is once Murray gets past the bum he's fighting this month, it will go to a purse bid and Murray will be forced to fight him I'm guessing around May. Otherwise he'll be dropped from his number one spot, lose his mandatory title challenge and be a laughing stock. Another possible explanation is his promoters are gonna try to get him a fight against Peter Quillin, a title fight I'm sure they think is easier.

agree what happened to him? his timing is off and he was getting hit with shots he shouldn't be getting hit with... rigo spanks him again.
To me looked like he lacked confidence. Also I guess he said before the fight his mind still isn't 100% in boxing. Rigondeaux did a number on him mentally, that loss got in his head making him question himself and his abilities, imo.

He'll need to get his shit together quick or he's gonna take some L's.

You know damn well GGG is not fight Quillin. GGG is a HBO he is not fighting a Golden boy fighter. HBO should be making Martinez vs. GGG. GGG can go to 168lb if no one wants to fight him at 160lb. Ward, Froch is waiting for him, dude has been at 160lb for 7 years already. Make up or keep whining about NO one wanting to fight you.
