I dont listen to gordy at all so I dont know if he raps similar to tech on a regular basis or not though, but that first 8 or 16 sounds ALOT like Techs flow.

MTV Names Machine Gun Kelly Hottest Breakthrough MC

Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly has been named MTV's Hottest Breakthrough MC for 2011.

MGK snagged the title after getting the most votes in an online poll.

So yeah, it's more of a popularity contest than an actual gauge of what MTV tastemakers think about the rapper (yes, we know there's no such thing as "MTV tastemakers," but give us a break — the morning coffee is just kicking in).

Either way, the dude beat out A$AP Rocky, Future, Roscoe Dash, French Montana, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Twist, Freddie Gibbs, and Meek Mill.

Take what you will from it. Last year, Wiz Khalifa won the award, topping the infinitely better Nicki Minaj.

MGK's major-label debut Lace Up — which was supposed to be an album but has now been knocked down to EP length — comes out in the spring. A full-length is due in the summer.

In the meantime, he has quite a tour schedule piling up. First he'll join Tech N9ne on the 90 Dates in 99 Days tour, before hooking up with Warped Tour this summer.

He has a Cleveland date on June 8 at House of Blues. —Michael Gallucci

Strange has a new album on the March 2012 slate that will be heavily promoted. Anyone care to figure on which album it will be? Like I said, it is gonna be in big promo, so it's doubtful it'll be an EP.
