Seahawks and Lynch have started talking contract

Back-to-back 100 yard games from Marshawn Lynch could help him get a new contract in Seattle.

Eric Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that Lynch and the Seahawks have started “preliminary discussions” about a new contract for Lynch.

Lynch, 25, is technically signed through 2012, but his deal will void after this year because he met minimum playing time requirements. Lynch has found a home in Seattle.

“I love having him around. He really is a very special guy,” coach Pete Carroll said.

There’s no reason to overpay, though. Lynch has averaged below four yards-per-carry since arriving in Seattle. The Seahawks are 28th in rushing this year.

Lynch isn’t the type of guy that would make big bucks on the open market, especially with far more complete backs slated to hit free agency like Ray Rice and Matt Forte.

SEAHAWKS!!!
I sit really close to that guy. I recognize the mohawk dude. I'm like 10 rows behind him.

Good win today. Sure the Rams are terrible, but we did a lot of good things. I really hope Chancellor doesn't get suspended.

Red Bryant looked kinda like Leonard Weaver with the cold blooded stiff arm after the pick today.

I lightweight want RG3 in the draft, I dont think our record will be bad enough to get Luck or Barkley or Jones.

RGIII is skyrocketing in terms of NFL stock at the moment. He COULD be the 3rd QB taken this year after Luck and Barkley. We could ultimately see 5 QB's go in the first round (Luck, Barkley, Jones, Foles, RG3). On top of that, there are a plethora of QB's that will go in the later rounds.

Looking for 'running' room

After playing six of their first 10 games on the road, the Seahawks are exciting about the opportunity to make a run by playing their next three games at CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks have won back-to-back games to open the second half of their season and now are looking at playing their next three games at home against opponents who have a combined nine victories.

Yes, you’re supposed to take them one game at a time, but even coach Pete Carroll can’t help but ponder the possibilities with the 3-7 Washington Redskins, 4-6 Philadelphia Eagles and 2-8 St. Louis Rams coming to the XX-large home-field advantage that is CenturyLink Field in a 16-day span.

“I like the way you’re talking. That sounds good,” Carroll said Monday during his weekly day-after news conference when the 2-0/three-in-a-row scenario was presented.

“It’s great to know that we’re going to be home for three weeks. It just has not felt like we’ve had that sense of playing at home with any kind of consistency.”

That’s because the 4-6 Seahawks haven’t. They opened the season with back-to-back road game and then played two in a row at home before playing three of their next four on the road. They’ve already made three trips into the Eastern time zone, as well as another to Dallas.

Now comes the reward: The team’s first three-game “home stand” since 2004, when Mike Holmgren was coaching the Seahawk and Carroll was dominating the college football world as the coach at USC.

That the games are against teams with losing records makes it all the better, as the Seahawks look to win three in a row for the first time since a five-game winning streak in 2007. That two of the games will be nationally televised makes it even better, as they’ll face the Eagles on Thursday night (Dec. 1) and the Rams on Monday night (Dec. 12).

It’s a chance for the Seahawks to show the football-watching world that they are an improving football team in “highlighted games,” as Carroll called them.

“That will be really exciting when the time comes,” he said. “But just that fact that we’re around here; it’s a very good feeling for everybody.”

His players definitely are feeling it, especially after their feel-good effort in St. Louis on Sunday, when the beat the Rams 24-7.

“We’ve got three games at home, we’ve just got to take those one at a time and just see how everything goes after that,” nose tackle Brandon Mebane said after Sunday’s game. “But we’re definitely excited about the opportunity to get on a little run here.”

Carroll’s onboard, as well.

“This is a big deal,” he said. “This weekend is. If we can get off to a good start on a three-week roll here, it will be really cool.”

3 game homestand with 3 very winnable games. Who knows, maybe we can finally get to .500.

The funny thing is, IF the Hawks end up at 8-8, TECHNICALLY, that would be an improvement over least year's record...how bizarre was last year after looking at it like that???

That'd be crazy if we won the rest of our games and end up 10-6. Especially since the team is missing several key players. We're screwing up are chances at a high draft pick, but if we're playing this good with all of these injuries, maybe we don't need a high draft pick. Definitely need to continue beefing up the o-line, though.

I think the Bears game is very winnable now that Cutler is out. Only game that worries me is the whiners game.

SEAHAWKS!!!
There are so many fucking things I want to bitch about with that game. I don't even know where to start; so, I just won't say anything at all. I just hope we look better on Thursday.
