Sleeping At Last - Yearbook: October

Here is a bit of background to this project:

Illinois' Sleeping At Last has announced an ambitious plan to release a three-song digital EP every month for one calendar year. The project, which the band is calling Yearbook, will kick off October 1 with an EP titled, surprisingly, October. "It sort of came from asking ourselves, 'What do we wish Sleeping At Last could do more of?'" says multi-instrumentalist Dan Perdue. "And the answer was, 'Make music.' The process of releasing and promoting a proper full-length can be a long one and doesn''t usually involve a whole lot of making music once it's been recorded. So we wanted to really streamline the whole process and really focus on writing and recording music much more consistently."

"We chose three songs a month because it felt like it would be a real challenge, but still doable, and each EP would be substantial enough for people to take notice of," he says. "We wanted to think of a format for releasing the music almost immediately as it's being finished. We know we're not the first musicians to try releasing music in a different way, but we're really excited to be working so hard on something we're really passionate about."

The EPs will be available on the first of each month and named for the month of release. They will be available on Sleeping At Last's website. The group, which was briefly signed to Interscope around 2003, but now release music independently, promises special guests on the songs (the band members are friendly with Billy Corgan, and have enough Christian undertones in their lyrics to perhaps snag a Pedro The Lion or a Sufjan) and plan to use the occasion to experiment with their dreamy, indie pop sound. "We definitely hope to really stretch ourselves creatively," says Perdue. "I think the success of the project actually depends on us trying new things. 36 songs without some significant variety would be pretty unexciting, so going into it we've made our one and only criteria that we're proud of each song."

This came out in June I guess. Don't know how I missed it.

Piratas de Sudamérica is a new series of limited edition EPs, for which El Guincho will rearrange and record various South American standards and lost classics.
It's a great EP of reworks but I really can't wait for Pop Negro to drop.

who are some people that make dope ass Dubstep beats?
Cotti
Bassnectar
Skream
Lukki
Dub Fiend

Dub Fiend has a song called Tetris Dubstep that is really dope.

Bassnectar's shit sounds the same more often than not, but the beats are epic.

Skream's pretty popular and his "Midnight Request Line" song has been remixed a few times.

Cotti does hip-hop beats mostly, but they are influenced by Dubstep and his collabs are almost always Dubstep.

Check out Cotti and Cluekid - Sensi Dub
