well who else is gonna take it into the endzone at the goalline. sure as hell aint gonna be gore, maybe coffee, but my bet it will be robinson and that is why they kept him. otherwise, yes he is useless.

we'll nolan drafted robinson in the 2nd, and nolan has a eye for talent, it takes time for these guys to mature and blossom into nfl players.

just look at smith, davis, staley for a top 10 pick, he got willis right, but he had to see willis in person at the senior bowl, in order to draft him.

we need a commander at the qb spot. i saw matt ryan, and that fucker gets it. he gets that you ahve to execute a play, dont make mistakes, knows how to lead his team down the field for a drive, very montana like, but not montana in no way, but has qualities like him. mark sanchez is like that too, he gets it. he knows how to get a team down the field.

we need a qb that GETS IT.

personally, this season is gonna be a trainwreck, ive been hopeful the beginning of every year so far this decade, that faithful shit, all you needed was hope.

but this year, the writing is on the wall, i dont have the same kind of hope this year.

i see other teams making great passing plays down the field, even midfield. 9ers settle for screen passes and short passing routes. that is only gonna cut it so much.

gore better have the greatest year of his fuckin life, cuz that is all there will be.

the D will be above solid that i have seen, they can make stops, but they still have problems wrapping up players when they tackle, this has been ongoing for years.

im not giving up, im just trying to be realistic so this season isnt such a let down. taking the plane down for a smooth landing is all. if they do more than my expectations - ill be extatic, but if not then i wont be disappointed, cuz that what i expected.

Pashos to sign one-year deal with 49ers
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblog...pashos-to-sign.html?mi_rss=49ers Blog and Q&A
Offensive tackle Tony Pashos is on the verge of signing a one-year deal with the 49ers. Pashos, 29, already has been to Santa Clara and passed his physical, according to a source close to the situation. The 49ers, however, have to release one player from their 53-man unit to make room. They either could part ways with an offensive lineman, likely Barry Sims, or a young player who has practice-squad eligibility. The 49ers currently have seven players on the eight-man practice squad.

Pashos, 6-6, 326, was an important signing for the 49ers. Two other teams were competing for his services. If the 49ers hadn't signed him, they would have begun the 2009 season with the same offensive line that ended 2008 with a league-high 55 sacks. The 49ers probably won't approach that number this year given their propensity for running the ball, but the tackle position was a problem spot at the end of the season and one that wasn't upgraded in the offseason. The team had hoped that Marvel Smith, a former Pro Bowler, had overcome back problems and would take over the right tackle spot. He did not and retired last month.

Perhaps Pashos' best attribute, considering the 49ers' history at right tackle, is that he's shown he can stay healthy. In the last three seasons, two with the Jaguars, one with the Ravens, he's missed exactly one game. I spoke with Michael C. Wright, who covers the Jags for the Florida Times-Union. Wright said that Pashos was a right tackle only. He said he was great in run blocking -- Jimmy Raye must be giddy! -- but struggled at times in pass protection, especially against speed rushers. Jacksonville used its first two draft picks this year on offensive tackles Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton.

The move reunites Pashos with offensive line coach Chris Foerster, Pashos' position coach in Baltimore from 2005-07. The 49ers have yet to announce the signing or discuss what Pashos' role will be. They likely gave him the same promise they gave Smith: If you can beat out incumbent Adam Snyder, the starting job is yours. Given his familiarity with Foerster, Pashos probably feels confident he can learn the 49ers' system quickly. Snyder (knee) started Friday's game in San Diego and promises to be the starter for Sunday's opener in Arizona. If the team keeps Sims, he'll go back to being the primary back up at left tackle, his role throughout the offseason.

^^^^^^

2 good pieces of information today.

1 - the 49ers addressed the RT position.

2 - Somehow Sheets cleared waivers and made the PS. (seeing Zeigler made it,too, is an added bonus)

The biggest surprise for the 49ers is that they did not sign draft pick TE Bear Pascoe. Singletary said that Pascoe did not adjust to the speed of the NFL as well as he could have. J.J. Finley will be the team's third tight end.

RB Kory Sheets was expected to make the practice squad, but it was surprising that they would have put him on waivers first. The 49ers ran the risk of losing Sheets to another team. However, none of the players that the 49ers waived on Saturday were picked up by other teams.

Spencer is surprise winner of starting job

Cornerback Shawntae Spencer, a primary starter his first three seasons with the 49ers, has surprisingly made it all the way back to the starting lineup.

Spencer was announced as the 49ers' starting right cornerback Monday, leapfrogging veteran Dre' Bly and promising third-year player Tarell Brown in the process.

Brown opened training camp as the 49ers' starting cornerback after veteran Walt Harris sustained a season-ending knee injury in May. When Brown sustained a toe injury on the first day of training camp during coach Mike Singletary's "nutcracker" drill, Bly replaced him with the first unit. Bly, who was signed a one-year contract after Harris' injury, started all four exhibition games.

On Saturday, 49ers coach Mike Singletary said he had made up his mind which player would start opposite Nate Clements, but he waited to inform the players of the decision. The 49ers had meetings on Monday, during which time the news was relayed.

Spencer, a second-round pick in the 2004 draft, started 39 games in his first three NFL seasons. But when the 49ers acquired Harris as a free agent, Spencer was relegated to a backup role. Spencer sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a Week 2 game last season in Seattle.

The 49ers waived outside linebacker Diyral Briggs on Monday to make room for offensive tackle Tony Pashos on the team's 53-man roster. If Briggs clears waivers, he will be placed on the 49ers' practice squad.

why the fuck they waive briggs? he was working hard out there!

and spencer? i cant even remember him playing lol
