Nice card right here if it happens......

Angulo vs. Cintron in Talks For May 30 on HBO, Berto vs Urango or Zab Judah

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com was advised of ongoing talks to match junior middleweight prospect Alfredo Angulo and former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron. HBO is interested in the fight. If the two sides can put a deal together, the fight would take place in the co-feature slot to Andre Berto's return on May 30.

Speaking of Berto, negotiations continue to match him with IBF junior welterweight champion Juan Urango. From what I've heard, there may not be enough money involved to make this fight happen. For one reason or another, HBO would like to see Berto defend against former champion Zab Judah.

Cintron is going to cry again. Fuck that guy. I gave Kermit too many chances and after that crap performance he put on recently, I hope he get's KO'd again.

I will say Cintron has a pretty decent shot at winning though, because no matter how much of a pussy ass bitch he is he still has tremendous power. If he wasn't such a girly man with feminine emotions he'd be pretty good. Angulo obviously hasn't faced anyone as good as him or with as much power so there is a bit of an unknown there.

Still, I think kermit sucks against pressure fighters and Angulo is all pressure, shit kermit even struggled against Jesse Feliciano's pressure because Kermit the Bitch doesn't know how to create space. Angulo by late TKO

So far Cintron's showed 0 of his KO power at 154. Angulo is going to blow him away.

.. I also don't see Dzin losing to Kirkland. Dzin might not hit as hard as Kirkland but he does have enough power to keep people off and is technically sound. I don't see many people beating him at 154 .. it'd be highly impressive if Kirkland could pull it off.

Pffffffffffffffffffft, here is another sick ass card in the works.
Chris John vs Juarez rematch
James Kirkland vs Sergei Dzindziruk
Victor Ortiz vs Andreas Kotelnik

John-Juarez rematch June 27?
Posted Mar. 16, 2009 at 05:26pm
By Michael RosenthalBuzz up!
A rematch between Chris John and Rocky Juarez has been added to a prospective card that would feature three major title fights on June 27. Also, the card would take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

In the other two title fights, Victor Ortiz would face WBA junior welterweight titleholder Andreas Kotelnik in his first title bout and James Kirkland would take on WBO junior middleweight belt holder Sergei Dzindziruk if Kirkland gets by a yet-to-be-determined opponent on May 2.

Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, is hoping to close the deal soon.

“I’m working on it like crazy,” he said. “If I pull it off, it’ll be huge.”

John, the WBA featherweight titleholder from Indonesia, and Juarez fought to a draw on Feb. 28 in Houston. It was Juarez’s fourth failed attempt at winning a major title.

“Rocky knows this would be his last chance,” Schaefer said. “If you ask him where he turned in the best performance of his career, though, he’d tell you Staples Center, when he lost (a split decision) to Marco Antonio Barrera.

“Chris John is a great fighter. A lot of people thought he won the fight (last month). John has the opportunity to capture the U.S. market, as well. I’m told there are 40,000 Indonesians living in L.A. And John in Indonesia is like Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines.”

Schaefer is confident that Ortiz and Kirkland, two of Golden Boy’s top prospects, will fare well.

Ortiz is coming off a second-round knockout of Mike Arnaoutis on March 7. Kirkland KO’d Joel Julio on the same card.

“Arnaoutis and Julio were major tests,” Schaefer said. “And they passed those tests with flying colors. Arnaoutis and Julio were two of the toughest guys in their respective divisions and neither had been stopped before.

“How much more ready can (Ortiz and Kirkland) be? We’re fired up.”

At the same time, Schaefer isn’t taking anything for granted.

“Dzinziruk is very tough,” he said. “So is Kotelnik. (Golden Boy matchmakers) Eric (Gomez) and Roberto (Diaz) both told me these aren’t going to be easy fights. I said, ‘Well, they’re world championship fights; they’re not supposed to be easy. How do you like our chances?’

“They said, ‘I like our chances. Just don’t fire us if the guys lose.’

Timothy Bradley: “Kendall Holt Needs to Respect Me”

By T.K. Stewart

With his 140-pound title unification fight against WBO belt-holder Kendall Holt only 2 ½ weeks away, WBC titlist Timothy Bradley is beginning to get into a fighting mood.

Always a well-spoken and classy representative of the sport, Bradley says he’s going to make Holt pay for his trash talking ways when the two come face-to-face in Montreal’s Bell Centre on April 4th.

“Kendall Holt is known for trash talking,” says Bradley who has an undefeated record of 23-0 (11KO). “I’m known as the nice guy, but you know, I’m not going to have him disrespect me and my craft and what I do. I’m a world champion and he needs to respect me just like I respect him. But you know, in this case, that’s not the case. ”

Bradley still seemed somewhat irked, but not totally rattled by Holt, who ranted and raved at their press conference in Montreal last month.

“I don’t have nothin’ against trash talking - it’s part of the business,” explains Bradley. “It’s part of gettin’ inside each other’s head and we’ll definitely see come April 4th and you’ve gotta’ come watch. It’s going to be fireworks in the ring and all that trash talking goes out the window and we'll do our trash talking with the fists.”

Bradley, who goes by the nickname “Desert Storm” is now in the heavy phases of his preparations and is already within easy striking distance of the 140 pounds he will have to scale in the big fight against Holt.

“I’ve been in training for 11 or 12 weeks already and we’ve got another few to go,” said Bradley. “I still have a lot of time to prepare and I’m ready right now to fight twelve rounds. Sparring and preparation is going well, I’ve been running a lot and I’ve just been very focused.”

While Holt has been busy assaulting him with harsh words outside the ropes, Bradley says he is expecting a similar assault inside the ropes.

“I’m expecting a slugfest. I expect myself to be coming forward and to make the fight happen and I expect Kendall Holt to be trying to counterpunch. In the later rounds I expect a big shot, a big shot over the top where I end the fight.”

Pacquiao Drops, Cuts Sparring Partner Hovhannesyan

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

The world’s No.1 pound-for-pound fighter and Filipino national treasure Manny Pacquiao began his first day of sparring with a spectacular performance at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach in Los Angeles.

In starting off aggressively Pacquiao showed he means business in preparing for his showdown against IBO light welterweight champion Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2.

Conditioning expert Alex Ariza told BoxingScene.com, insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports that the first day of sparring was “very exciting.”

He said Pacquiao dropped sparring partner Art Hovhannesyan whom Ariza described as “a very tough, rugged Armenian who has been sparring here for a while. Manny dropped him in the second round and then cut him in the fourth” forcing an early end to the sparring session.

Ariza said Hovhannesyan was “a 147-150 pounder and Manny hit him with a straight left and he went down. Manny then caught him with what looked like an uppercut and that opened up a cut that ended the sparring at about two minutes into the fourth round.” The cut was about one inch on the left eyelid.

Hovhannesyan who lives in Glendale, California is undefeated with a ring record of 7-0-1- with 2 knockouts.

Ariza who helped prepare Pacquiao for his sensational 9th round demolition of WBC lightweight champion David Diaz and the December 6 battle with Oscar De La Hoya who quit at the end of the eighth round said Pacquiao “looks very strong.”

The conditioning expert noted “I’ve always said that at 140 pounds, he wont struggle to make weight, there are no diet issues and Manny is just so strong now.”

He said Pacquiao started his strength and conditioning on Monday and Ariza told us “ he did very well with that. He looks strong, almost like the De La Hoya fight.” He noted that Pacquiao is able to push himself but since its early in his training he gets a little tired. On Monday, Roach said Pacquiao went 15 rounds on the punch-mitts and it was he (Roach) who felt tired.

Ariza said that during the aborted sparring session Pacquiao was “just toying with this guy who is not as big as Rashad Holloway who was 165 pounds and another Mexican who was 160” when Pacquiao was preparing for De La Hoya.

Ariza pointed out that Pacquiao is now fighting opponents who are 5’8” or 5’9” “and Manny is hitting them. I just don’t see these smaller guys being able to take his punches. I knew he was going to be lethal at 140 pounds.”

He said WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa also worked out at the Wild Card while Bernabe Concepcion who fights WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano on the Pacquiao-Hatton undercard also worked out after Pacquiao.

Ariza said he saw the 22 year old Concepcion train “a little bit and he looked sharp, he looked strong and he’s a good worker.”

Casamayor Injured, Withdraws From Julio Diaz Fight

By Mark Vester

In the second injury related withdrawal of the show, former lightweight champion Joel Casamayor has cited a sprained lower back and withdrew from his upcoming bout with Julio Diaz, scheduled to take place on the undercard to Golden Boy's pay-per-view "Lightweight Lightning" on April 4 in Austin Texas. About two weeks ago, Jorge Barrios withdrew from his bout with Carlos Hernandez and was replaced by Vicente Escobedo.

Casamayor's manager, Luis DeCubas Jr, told Dan Rafael that his fighter will not move forward with the Diaz fight. No replacement has been named as of yet.

"He's not going to be able to fight," DeCubas Jr. said. "He has a lumbar spine sprain. He's laid off sparring for a while. His back is real tight. He hasn't sparred for about a week and a half. Joel was right on track, but sometimes your body just says no. He should be fine but the doctor said there was no way he could fight April 4."

Still on the show, Edwin Valero faces Antonio Pitalua for the WBC lightweight title and Michael Katsidis will clash with Jesus Chavez

Klitschko vs. Gomez Weigh-In - Juan: "I'll Beat Dr. Wimp"

By Mark Vester

Both heavyweights have weighed-in for their heavyweight clash tomorrow night in Stuttgart, Germany. Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko defends his WBC title against mandatory Juan Carlos Gomez.

Despite all of the pre-fight bad blood, the weigh-in was rather calm. Klitschko weighed in at 249 pounds, while Gomez came in at 230 pounds. Klitschko promised a beating to his former stablemate. The two fighters used to fight under the Universum promotional banner, shared the same trainer and sparred often.

"I like Juan a lot. He's a real nice guy and a good buddy of mine," Klitschko said. "It's a real pity that I now have to beat him up."

Gomez, a former cruiserweight champion, vowed to outbox and "destroy" Klitschko.

"I'll toy with 'Dr. Wimp' in such a way and I'll outbox him that there won't be two opinions about the outcome: 'The Black Panther' will be world champion again," Gomez said.

Ya, but they have the finest girls to sing the national anthems and hold the flags. We get some Guadalupe or Shanaynay type singers, or some Mexican pop artist I have never heard of. They put up some Eastern Euro girls that shit all over playboy cover models.

Think we need to take a page out of their book on that one...
