I think producers need to step they game up b4 they start chargin these outrageous amounts. I honestly haven't been feelin the Bays production for the last 3 or 4 years. At this point there's not too many producers I'd give any cheese to. Case in point all the producers that posted they myspace in this thread had subpar beats to me.
aint nobody in the bay heard of a Vince V. Just niggas on siccness maybe.He's no where near being in the top 5. The can't knock Tatem1 for puttin his credits out there even if they word big artists featured on a nobodys album. Them major artist aint never got at Vince for work. Derrick Sac Johnson is the dude from sac that has the deal with koch and all the paper to pay niggas like Pastor Troy and Guerilla Black to do albums and take them through Koch. Believe me they'd rather get beats from a nigga with name but Vince probably got a in with Derrick so that's how he is able to say he's done shit for pastor troy.

i've sold beats but never payed for em. if i can get at least $100 it's all gravy but i'll try to get more if i can depending on the quality of the beat and the person buyin
call me old fashioned but i still believe in a form of hip-hop where it's more about the love than the money. ask a MC from the bronx in 1989 if he wanna buy a beat he'd be like 'HUH!' yea fa sho times have changed and the money is important but i get sick of muthafuckas pimpin out their music. $750 for a beat, $1000 for a verse, $500 for a hook and BOOM any jackass can have a hit song on their hands. i get sick of that shit. yeah i realize that if someone's eatin off their music then other people who contributed to it deserve to eat too, but some mafuckas be tryin get over any way they can.
i'd rather fuck wit someone that was feelin' me off the strength of my music rather then the strength of my bankroll. and any dude that puts together some loop is all of a sudden a producer... fuk that.
there's a difference between being a real producer and just another dude that makes beats.

Your kinda right. Sac do be pluggin me with the albums he puts out through KOCH but Sac could cash out anybody. He fucks with me cuz we sell alot of records together. Pastor Troy hit billboard #4 the first week it dropped, no promo, no nothin. As far as people in the bay not knowin me, I think you need to research pimp. I worked with Messy Marv, Baby Bash, A-wax, Jaytee, Young Dru, Dutch, B12, Tay da Tay, The mossie, Balance, so I don't know what you talkin bout fam. oh yeah and I'm fuckin with Eightball and MJG on their new album on T.I's grand hustle label , Directly. .
vince v is dope i been following his work for a minute. but to stay on the topic rather if cats been makin beats for a few years or not,yal still need to learn about the real business sides of the deal before you go putting your price tags up because you can be selling yourself short,learn the game before you get in it and get played
That is the realest ever written right there. On top of that cats should be contracting for some points. If you not going get any money up front, which is only an advance against you royalty money, then contract for points. It adds up when one of them songs becomes a download hit. Young producers check out your Music Business resources and read up. Learn how to think long term long money and grow your business however you can. Short term overnight success from one song is like buying a lottery ticket. I agree that you need to build notoriety, but that means nothing if you can't maintain your business financially and everybody knows who you are. Everybody knows they don't have to pay you too. Keep that in mind..Game Up! Get Paid Something For Your Work!
