History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 132: Chris “C&H” Hicks is a hustler turned record executive who discovered and signed Dru Down and the Luniz to their first record deals. Growing up in Oakland during the crack era, Chris saw the music industry as a way out after watching the success of Too $hort and becoming a member of the Dangerous Crew. From behind the scenes, he helped put out hits like “I Got 5 On It” and “Pimp of the Year.” He rubbed shoulders with the likes of Suge Knight, Diddy, and Eazy-E and went from independent self-distribution to partnering with major labels.
