What ever happened to all the scalps the Native Americans collected? Ive seen arrowheads in Museums. Bows, Shoes and Tools, but never scalps. Is it because white men thought scalps are gruesome? is it because all the scalps were burned?

Scalps were nothing but skin and hair.

The skin breaks down and degrades, and I'm sure the hair does too once the area around the root decomposes.

The hair on full bodied corpses, however, grows for awhile before dying out / falling off.
