They need to limit the amount of strikes to the head(maybe no strikes on the ground to the head). These kids won't have adult professional careers if they've had multiple concussions at a younger age. But everything from take downs, leg kicks to submissions should be ok.

btw their technique was really impressive.

that's too dangerous. They should at least have some sort of headgear like Amateur boxing. You don't want 12-13 year old kids taking full blown shots like that, the brain is still developing and whatnot. They could end up punch drunk by 19 and/or have serious brain damage later in life.

I'm all for teaching kids how to fight at an early age but you gotta use some common sense and protect these kids.

Protective gear should be worn at that age. My son does Kajukenbo and they always were full gear to spar and even the veterans that are young wear full gear during tournaments. Another thing is if one of them were to get a arm broken from an arm bar or some other type of submission there could be big problems in the future with things like growth plates. My son broke his arm and he after he had the cast taken off and xrays but still had to go back months later for more xrays to check the growth plate, messing that up could have a permanent effect.

The more I think about it the more I think it's a really really bad idea. The body and brain are in so much development at that age. These kids are taking a serious risk before there life even gets started.

^ Exactly what I was gonna say. Not a good age to be risking things, while the body is in such a crucial transitional phase.

At least wear some damn headgear! Pretty idiotic that they would let these kids fight with just MMA gloves with no headgear. This must be somewhere in Bumfuck, Alabama or some shit.
