The infamous Mr. John Pruitt, aka BIGG CRAZE devious: :devious: yeah, that's right!) of HOT ONE RECORDZ, has filed his lawsuit against the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Government for violation of his civil rights. Bigg Craze was wrongly incarcerated for over 14 months in violation of his 4th, 5th, and 14th Civil Rights. After he was falsely arrested, and during the over 14 month time frame he was held in jail, he was also continuously harassed by drug agents to provide information about crimes he did not commit nor had any knowledge of. The Sheriff's Department knowingly hid evidence that would have exonerated Bigg Craze. They lied about wiretaps and the fact that officers had no probable cause to pull Bigg Craze over that evening. Task force officers admitted that they saw Bigg Craze and his co-defendant's car in the area, and had them pulled over and arrested without investigation or evidence to show they were involved in organized drug trafficking, and then covered up their mistake by falsely testifying in federal court.
Pruitt was threatened that he had to cooperate with law enforcement or receive a term of life in prison. Due to Pruitt's unwillingness to cooperate with authorities, the government punished him by filing a superseding indictment, which raised Pruitt's mandatory minimum sentence to 20 to life. Pruitt continued to refuse to cooperate, and proclaimed his innocence as well as having no knowledge of any drug related crimes throughout his entire incarceration.
The Sacramento Task Force has been involved in other dealings of this nature, and history shows the County of Sacramento has paid for their agents' eager accusations. This lawsuit can't give Craze back the 14 months lost that he spent in Sacramento's County Jail, nor take away the loss, pain and suffering the separation caused his children or the damages his record company and reputation suffered, but it can potentially provide restitution in the amount of millions of dollars.
During the evening of February 19th, 2008, John Pruitt (Bigg Craze) and his co-defendant were pulled over by members of the Sacramento-based SAINT/HIDTA (high intensity drug trafficking agency) a federally mandated drug task force, and although there was no drugs found in the car, on the persons, or at their home(s), or Bigg Craze’s recording studios both parties were taken in and booked on felony charges for the sale of a significant quantity of methamphetamine. In a federal lawsuit filed February 18th, 2010, Bigg Craze has sued the Federal Government, and each and every officer assigned to that task force for violations of his civil rights.
On the very day that the federal trial was to begin, and only then, did officers and undercover agents finally admit that they had worn wiretaps; wiretaps which disproved the written and verbal statements made by the arresting officers, and indicated that the officers had lost track of their actual targets, pulling over only a car that looked like the car they had been originally tracking. Months before, sheriff’s deputies testified under oath that no such tape recordings existed, and just before the men were to stand trial, the federal prosecutor revealed that the tapes really did exist.
“The Sacramento County Sheriff’s officers in this case acted too hastily in arresting John Pruitt and Darryl Berg and then tried to cover up their mistake by hiding the body wire-recording of the sting operation that they knew would exonerate our clients,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Ernest Galvan of Rosen, Bien & Galvan in San Francisco. “This is not the first time that the task force has been caught in such conduct, there has been at least one other instance where a similar cover-up has been exposed and the case thrown out of court.”
The lesson to be learned here is that we need to begin to take our civil rights seriously before we are removed of all of our rights.
Bigg Craze is doing it as he always has, HOT ONEZ STYLE!!!
