2-0-Sixx @2-0-Sixx how is Russia dealing with the collapse in oil prices. They just took a major hit in the last few days since OPEC lifted the ceiling on how much oil it's member nations can output. I know its hitting Canada pretty hard and I know Russia is one of the major oil producers. What does this mean for the future of Russia? Will they be diversifying their economy any time soon and if so, in what ways?

Not about to write an essay for you ese. The low oil prices have led to Russia making spending cuts. Hurts the people. They went through the same thing in 2009 it's nothing new for Russia. Russian people are well accustomed to hardships.
Can you please just write this in an essay format?

Also, this current oil collapse is very different from the economic turmoil the world witnessed in 2008/09. Right now the oil prices are being effected by an over supply and weak demand and not because of a financial crisis. The 1980-85 oil collapse is a much better comparison. How did Russia fair back then? (please answer with an essay).

Is it fair to assume that Russia will keep cutting spending as oil prices continue to fall and that soon they will be just as dysfunctional as 1985 Soviet Union Russia. If oil falls to 20 dollars a barrel like it's expected, I don't know if Russia can handle it. How resilient is Russia, really?
It's not as grim as you're making it out to be, it won't be 1985 and it hasn't even been as bad as 2009. It's no secret if oil keeps dropping in price it's going to be rough on Russia for awhile, but there's light at the end of the tunnel, mostly due to better planning and preparation (they aren't completely ignored and blind sighted to this and have very recent experience) and in spite of sanctions and low oil manufacturing and agricultural growth proves Russia is resilient. There are numerous articles you can find that go more in depth that I'm willing to here.

Apparently Russia is assuming oil prices will jump to 50 dollars by summer of 2016, and they even based their preliminary 2016 budget on this.

Forbes Welcome

Do you think that's a rational decision considering the sanctions placed on Iran are going to be lifted by summer of 2016 and they are likely to saturate the already over supplied oil market with more oil?

Why isn't Russia working on moving away from fossil fuels to more cleaner sources that won't pollute the environment and cause further global warming. Do they not care about future generations?

Even Venezuela has started liquidating their assets due to low oil prices: http://oilprice.com/Energy/Oil-Prices/Venezuela-Liquidating-Assets-As-Economic-Crisis-Worsens.html

Don't link Forbes ever again. They are planning on a possible drop to $20, but that obviously won't stay that low for long.

Lol yes Russia is leading the way in green energy sources, this is their number one concern! Followed by China and the US!! hahaha I'm sorry, but under capitalism there will never be any serious fucks given for the environment and future generations.

Venezuela is a clusterfuck right now and everything Chavez fought for is in shambles.
