rest in peace to the legend like John Singleton, he was the first director to capture the realities of African Americans from the inner city's of LA in a authentic type of way to worldwide masses with the classic 1991 film Boy N The Hood that was the visuals to the 80's NWA music movement but wit artistic integrity regardless of the film's subject matter, he was a great filmaker full stop not just at doing hood films not that theirs anything wrong with specialising in genre based topics only, but RIP to John Singleton & condolences go out to his family & friends, its a great loss

(AllHipHop News) John Singleton has died today, after his family decided to take the respected film maker/director off life support today.
Singleton, 51, suffered from a stroke about a week ago and then slipped into a coma that he never awakened from. The Los Angeles native was the first Black film maker to be nominated for best director at the Oscars and he offered movie goers and unflinching look at African Americans in movies like "Boyz n the Hood" and "Poetic Justice." Most recently he offered fans the critically acclaimed show "Snowfall," which was recently renewed for a third season.
