al pacino played a cuban in one of the most well known classic gangster movies, scarface and he's italian not even latino, then he played the role of another latino in carlitos way, it's just acting, at the end of the day any good actor can play any role, it all depends on if they can play the role convincing...look at denzel again for example you look at homie you would'nt say he can play the role of a gangster but homie pulled it off....it all comes down to good acting and only time will tell if Wilmer did a good job...you can't just pull any mexican off the street and put there in the main role of a movie just because the movie is about mexicans, alot of actors is you seen playing roles of mexicans are not even mexican, there not that many mexican actors that played any major role in any movie.
