Something tells me floyd is going to knockout out pac-man and shut everybody up for about 1 day. Then it will be back to the bullshit like floyd has been dodging sugar shane all these years like he just didn't win against a guy everybody is picking to whoop his ass.

Report: Jones offers $25M for megafight

DALLAS -- Dallas Cowboys officials are still interested in bringing the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight to Cowboys Stadium, multiple sources close to the football team and fight officials told ESPNDallas.com on Saturday night.

Promoter Bob Arum expects to settle on a site by next week. While Las Vegas is the front-runner, Arum claims it still might be Dallas.

The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered to pay $25 million as a site fee.

"I'm working really hard to bring the fight down to Dallas," Arum told ESPNDallas.com.

The Top Rank boss spoke glowingly of Jones and his willingness to outbid Vegas for what might be the richest fight in boxing history.

"I know Texas people, and I know that a first proposal doesn't mean it's the final proposal," Arum to the Associated Press. "I'm saying that Dallas is a real live possibility, and I have a fiduciary responsibility to Manny Pacquiao to get him the most money."

Arum also expressed frustration Saturday night with Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer, who assists Mayweather Promotions, for canceling a trip to Dallas because he doesn't want the fight in Jones' opulent stadium.

The Dallas bid was thought to be nearly dead after Schaefer skipped the trip on Wednesday to scout for Mayweather. But Arum, speaking after Top Rank fighter Lamont Peterson lost his 140-pound title shot against Timothy Bradley, insists Schaefer must consider Jones' offer.

"I think everybody involved has an obligation to see," said Arum, who has turned over the nuts-and-bolts negotiations to Top Rank president Todd duBoef because Arum gets too emotional.

Sources told ESPNDallas.com that Cowboys officials are prepared to seat approximately 9,000 fans on the football field and lower the video board, which is 90 feet above the ground, to close to 25 feet above the ring. The fight could have a capacity of close to 100,000 fans.

"I know we can get the greatest offer in history from the Texas stadium," Arum said. "My position is whoever has the best deal for those two fighters, that's where I want the deal."

Cowboys spokesperson Brett Daniels said Saturday night the organization wouldn't have a comment. However, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he's interested in having the fight in Cowboys Stadium.

"I'm willing to help in any way that I can," Cuban said in an e-mail to ESPNDallas.com. "I think it would be great for North Texas and Cowboys Stadium to host the fight. I have a call in to Floyd and have offered my assistance. We will see what happens."

Arum might want this historic fight to happen in decidedly unhistoric Cowboys Stadium, or he might simply be attempting to leverage Jones' bid against the MGM Grand to get a better offer from the best fight site in boxing's capital city.

The MGM Grand likely could craft a bigger offer than $25 million based on closed-circuit tickets and the ancillary benefits of being in the gambling mecca, but the casino likely can't match the possible Dallas gate -- and Arum wants a guarantee.

"I'm guaranteeing my fighter $25 million," Arum said. "I ain't going for pie in the sky on this."

are you people serious about pbf knocking out pac? haha. it took him 8 rounds to KO hatton and he didn't KO marquez. what makes you think he can do it to pac? I really doubt pbf is going to hit manny with anything harder than cotto did. dude hit pacman with some solid shots and he remained solid through the fight.

Yeah but Cotto didnt really land combos, Mayweather is very capable of putting a bunch of punches together that will end Manny

trust me, pbf doesn't want to play that game with pac. he'll do his defense thing and try to pick his shots. pacman is too fast to throw combos at and not take anything back. I really don't see floyd wanting to exchange punches with pac.

if you think Mayweather is only gonna throw 1 shot at a time your only fooling yourself, Mayweather is way more of a skilled fighter then Manny and it will show when they fight

I agree, I mean pbf might catch manny a number of times, maybe even score a flash knockdown if he's lucky, but there is no way in my mind he can KO manny. Pac proved he has an elite chin after letting cotto pound on him like it was absolutely nothing.

He only threw 1 shot at a time against marquez for 12 rounds. Even after it was so very apparent marquez couldn't touch floyd and he was hurt floyd still wouldn't step his offense up. The guy simply doesn't throw combinations anymore, this goes back quite some time. He didn't throw combos against marquez, hatton, oscar, not even judah.

He will potshot, meaning he'll pick his shots carefully the entire fight and wont throw more than a 2 punches at a time.

That's not a knock on mayweather either because obviously his style is incredibly effective, but he is almost all defense these days. I miss the 130 pound floyd that would go in for the kill.

Cotto's power > > > Floyd's power.

Floyd doesn't sit down on his punches like Cotto does, either. He'll land shots on Manny, but doesn't have the power to knock him out, IMO.

I could see this going Floyd by split decision, but I could also see Manny ending Floyd's unbeaten streak with a brutal KO. Manny is just that fucking bad.

< is buying it.

i think both fighters will enter the ring with different formulas on how to beat each other.

This is what I think will play a very overlooked role in the fight.

The gameplan.

Floyd is one of the best, if not the best at adjusting to his opponent during the fight. This is why they don't gameplan for specific opponents. I honestly think Floyd could win fights with no one in his corner. Boxing is literally second nature to him.

Then you have Freddie Roach who is a master at making gameplans and strategies for his fighter's. Now, he's got Manny who with his abilities, could pretty much do everything Freddie draws up.

Freddie is from the school of Eddie Futch, who was probably the greatest trainer of all time...so I would never doubt his ability to spot weaknesses and opportunities in his opponents.

I personally can't see very many kinks in Floyd's defense, but obviously....I'm not Freddie Roach so we'll see if he can make a game plan to throw Floyd off of his game.

Floyd is going to slow the fight down and make into more of a chess match and he'll win by doing that. And all it's going to take is one perfect shot to end the night. Manny is going to walk into a punch and then he's going to get knocked down or out.

And then the Floyd haters will continue to talk about how he keeps beating up on smaller opponents (even though PacMan is ranked number 1 pound for pound now)

I know freddie roach will be watching this tape, pacquiao needs to apply intelligent pressure and cut off the ring effectively. Look how many times Castillo landed clean on mayweather. When he gets floyd against the ropes he was very vulnerable. I can't imagine pac not being able to land a few big punches. Floyd's defense isn't invincible

As many punches as Pacman throws we know he's going to land punches, but when scoring a fight, you score the fight on the more effective punches and cleaner shots. It's going to be interesting scoring this fight. Mayweather is going to have to score/punch to win, he won't be able to "run" like many of you say he does and still win the fight.

Thanks Tony, that reminded me of the awesome Lennox Lewis pre-fight breakdown of the hopkins-calzaghe fight, "Well, the thing you have to keep in mind is, both guys have come to fight. Neither guy wants to lose, so they are going to give it their all. I expect to see lots of punches thrown, some landing, some missing- but overall, just a real fight. Both guys are going to try and hurt the other. It's going to be good and, at the end of the night, one guy is going to come out the victor."

full of wisdom.
