what he said...especially that first one. second one is alright tho.

I think parts of the pictures look better, but other parts come out way too dark and actually lose something... I'd suggest using layer masks, and try adjusting different areas at different levels of darkness, I think the second picture came out a lot better than the first. I'd try to lighten some of the shadow areas though, not by a whole lot but enough to maybe regain some of the detail that turns to black...
