I've been saying for a long time that the Casino's in Oregon, Washington and Idaho need to host a Music festival that supports the youth in education and furthermore, at risk youth. Not just for the Native Kids, but for all kids.

What better way to do that than through music? Not only would we be able to employ these youth for different job details. As well we would be able to offer them an alternative to getting themselves caught up in the wrong crowd and adding them to the already long list of our youth in the Penitentiary system, or reform school line up. A man I have sincere respect for said to me one day, "It seems like kids are preparing them selves to go to Prison all the time instead of going to college. It's not if I go to prison it's when! that is really sad."

After the annual Concert/Music festival and Art Show, the net capital is then placed into a money market account and gains interest on the dollar at roughly 6% to 8% which then can be doled out to all of those students who need it. To help propel them into the higher education realm after high school.

I think it is long over due that our children receive the support they need the most to continue in excellence, both in art and music. but mostly in higher education. It has been far to long that the tribes have been operating casinos and other very lucrative business ventures to not be supporting our own future leaders and core support. the same goes for the corporate monsters in business and our elected officials. Not that all are not doing what they should, it just seems to be a very minute few who actually step up and have something to offer to our kids.

What would be more important, a profit margin that stagnates as we lose the ability to find valuable help in the future, mainly because their all locked up? Or an ever expanding employee base and an infinite supply of future endeavors for the young entrepeneur, and a guaranteed job after college and or high school? YOu be the Judge.

That being said. It has been thought of before and I am sure of it. But how often does it really take shape and become reality? A music fest for the whole family? One that gives back to the people? More specifically at the tribal and local level? Yes there are tribes and townships that seem to do more for their people and some that do not. Here in the N.W. they seem to do okay. They just don't do enough, even when they can. If I am wrong then prove it. All kids deserve the right to equal opportunity. All people are responsible for the entire village not just the parents. If we all manifest that attitude we can end war and famine on this earth.

Nuff Said!
