Diaz vs. Stun Gun at UFC 125

Not even the most jaded fight fan can ignore this one.

UFC 125 is looking to bring fireworks to the MGM Grand after securing verbal agreements between welterweight warriors Nate Diaz and Dong-Hyun Kim, tentatively scheduled for Jan. 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Korea's MFight announced the pending deal yesterday afternoon.

Diaz tinkered with the lightweight division to mixed results before returning to 170-pounds at UFC 111 back in March. It was a move that left nobody second guessing him as he pounded out Rory Markham just three minutes into the opening round.

Another stiff test awaited him in Marcus Davis and it was another one he passed with flying colors. The wily grappler detonated the "Irish Hand Grenade" via guillotine choke to close out their UFC 118 contest last August.

He may be in cruise control since his welterweight return, but that doesn't mean he can coast through Kim, the undefeated Korean import who's made a habit out of stopping win streaks.

After the Karo Parisyan fiasco at UFC 94 that resulted in a no decision, "Stun Gun" posted back-to-back unanimous decision victories over T.J. Grant and Amir Sadollah.

A convincing win over Diaz and it may be time to change his status from "prospect" to "contender."

UFC 125, though not officially announced, is expected to be headlined by division champion Frankie Edgar, as he defends his title in a rematch against undefeated Gray Maynard.

Potential Card:
Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Gray Maynard
Heavyweight bout: Shane Carwin vs. Roy Nelson
Lightweight bout: Dong-Hyun Kim vs. Nate Diaz
Light Heavyweight bout: Thiago Silva vs. Brandon Vera
Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
Welterweight bout: Antonio McKee vs. Jacob Volkmann

Middleeasy.com's Sunday Morning Rumor Mill

After the Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II card, Nick Diaz was walking in the hallway of the HP Pavilion to attend the post-fight press conference. Simultaneously, the guys at Showtime was ushering Mayhem Miller out of the post-fight press conference in order to prevent another Strikeforce: Tennessee. From what I was told, Mayhem was supposed to exit out of the post-fight press conference doors and take a right, while Nick Diaz was going to enter the room in the opposite direction. In short, both fighters would have never crossed paths if this initial plan actually worked, however things sort of 'screwed up'. As Mayhem Miller was walking down the corridor, he abruptly turned around and walked the other way. As the two were approaching each other, things seemed to be somewhat civil. Out of nowhere, Nick Diaz launched a water bottle directly at Mayhem's face -- almost at point-blank range. It hit Mayhem directly in the face, water exploded everywhere and Miller looked stunned. Security got in-between the two and Nick Diaz held his arms up and said 'Come on you fat [expletive]!'. He then tried shoving the security away to get close to Mayhem while screaming 'Let's do it right now!'. Nick Diaz managed to get within swinging distance, and then more security jumped in and held back Nick and finally got him to walk in the opposite direction, towards the post-fight press conference room. This altercation happened outside of the locker rooms. This is not a rumor, it's 100% true.

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Satoru Kitaoka will probably go down at Dynamite!! 2010.

There was a guy on the UG that made some rather outrageous claims regarding WEC/UFC, so in order to stay true to the rumor mill format, I will let you guys know what they are, starting with the rumor that the UFC is looking to leave Spike TV and hop aboard NBC/Universal. Apparently, that's the reason why the UFC is now on Versus.
-The UFC will absorb the lightweight talent of WEC and the organization will be kept around to contend with Bellator.
-This same guy also claims that Urijah Faber will be a coach on The Ultimate Fighter in 2011.
-The UFC may debut on NBC as early as the 2nd quarter of 2011 (sounds rather ridiculous).
-Alistair Overeem will be in the UFC by 2011 (another rather ridiculous claim).
-Versus will most likely be rebranded to NBC Sports.
-And finally, the UFC shows this year were 'stress tests' to see if ZUFFA can handle the new NBC TV deal which they plan to roll out in 2011. We also could see the UFC on G4 TV sometime next year. Personally, I don't believe any of this stuff, but it's a rumor nonetheless.

There was a huge judging error in last night's Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II.

The Japanese camp, U-File, vs. Sengoku may happen at Dynamite!! 2010.

Don't be surprised if you hear EA Sports announce they are creating a K-1 game for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in a few months.

lmfao, another reason why diaz is the shit..

& i was just thinkin they should bring back K-1 games on the ps3, about a week ago. since theres no grappling/submission system to worry about, EA could easily make this every bit as good as Fight Night.. plus, it'd be alistair overeem in another fuckin game lol..

here's the original post from a Dutch kickboxing forum, translated.

we have today from various angles and sounds received questions about a rumor that Badr would be deceased in an accident in Morocco

others spoke of a settlement
but also in Morocco and also with some details of location etc

We have contacted Mike's Gym and they said nothing about it
but .... few days have been no further contact with him
and one (this morning) sent SMS messages this nav Badr itself is still not answered

also we have not been able to find in the media
but that says nothing of course

The stories vary, but include also weather so many details that we still have decided to post this
it does not mean that it is so
but not that it is not so ...

it's just a fact that there are several different reports circulating about the possible death of Badr
and that it failed us today to get this confirmed or denied
somewhat graphic pic in original post

looks just like Badr but the shading under his head looks shopped.

Gomi vs. Guida, Baroni vs. Tavares Added to UFC 125

As rumored, popular UFC lightweight Clay Guida will return to action against former Pride star Takanori Gomi at UFC 125 on Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Guida confirmed the bout Sunday night during an interview with Chicago’s ESPN 1000.

Guida -- who begins his fourth year under the UFC’s employ on Oct. 14 -- will look to extend a two-fight win streak. After dropping back-to-back bouts to Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian, Guida submitted Shannon Gugerty in March. “The Carpenter” most recently notched a third-round TKO of Rafael dos Anjos in an August bout which saw Guida fracture the Brazilian’s jaw in two places.

While Guida’s position within the Zuffa ranks seems secure, Gomi is still searching for his place within the UFC’s deep 155-pound division. After being dominated and submitted by Kenny Florian in his March UFC debut, “The Fireball Kid” came roaring back, showcasing his fabled knockout power with a first-round clobbering of Tyson Griffin.

Though the UFC has yet officially announce the New Year’s Day event, multiple sources report that the card will be headlined by a lightweight title bout between champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard.

"The Ultimate Fighter 11" semifinalist Brad Tavares (5-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will put his perfect record on the line when he meets veteran fighter Phil Baroni (13-12 MMA, 3-6 UFC) at UFC 125.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that verbal agreements are in place for the fight, which is expected to take place at middleweight.

UFC 125 takes place Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the night's main card airs on pay-per-view.

It's not known if Tavares vs. Baroni will make the broadcast.

After a semifinal finish on "TUF 11," Tavares fought castmate Seth Baczynski at the show's live finale in June. The Hawaii native and current Las Vegas-based fighter picked up a decision victory to move his record to 5-0.

Tavares has been on the sidelines since then, and the UFC 125 fight marks his first in six months.

Baroni, a 10-year vet who recently tried his luck at welterweight, looks to rebound from a November 2009 decision loss to "TUF 7" winner Amir Sadollah. He hasn't fought since then, and an injury forced him out of an August UFC 118 meeting with John Salter.

Baroni made his UFC debut back in 2001, and following a release in 2005, he had stints with PRIDE, Strikeforce, Elitexc and other top promotions before re-signing with the organization.

they're stacking the shit out of 125 this week
