this aint really eccr related... but eccr artists or people wit knowledge please answer this...

ok.. when a artist puts out a cd... how do they get paid... do they sell tha cds to a store like rock bottom records, and they buy it in bulk or in gross units... n they get paid then? or do they tally up how many cds they sold n then break tha artist off... or does tha label pay them b4 tha cd drops... how and when do ya'll get paid... is it per unit? in bulk sales? ya'll get paid frum tha tax? Also wit compilations... how much do ya'll get breaded out for a single track on a cd or a feature on a cd? how does this shit work... please answer...

all depends on how u structure the deal, or how the deal is given to you. there are several ways all leading u to different amounts of money at the end.

artist can get paid up front.
if u have clout and proven sales the lable might give u "points," which is a percentage of every unit sold.
u could have incentives if more units are sold.
typically a lable wants to recop all the money it spent on u, advertising, pressing, and distribution before the artist ever sees a dime.

as far as compilations go typically the person putting out the comp buys the track directly from an artist or lable.
