GAINESVILLE, Fla.: Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram will miss the season because of a torn knee ligament.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said Thursday that Ingram, who nearly skipped his season year to jump to the NFL after last season, will undergo surgery within the next week to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

The fifth-year senior has caught 64 passes for 888 yards and eight touchdowns in the past two years, including 34 catches for 508 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007.

This was expected to be Ingram's breakout season. He was going to be a more of a true tight end instead of lining up as an inside receiver and a featured target for Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Sucks for the Gators, but they have so much fire power and that squad that the impact may not be that big.
i agree. they still have tebow, harvin, and rainey.

this offense would've been more dynamic with ingram being a weapon over the middle.

best thing he could do is bounce back from that injury, and try to come out for the nfl combine.

It really sucks for the team, because Ingram is a big, strong TE who goes over the middle without fear. He's able to stretch the field for players like Percy.

Oh well...hopefully someone else steps up at TE.
