News Items From Sunday's "Against All Odds" News

February 12th, 2006 23:17
SEVERAL NEWS ITEMS FROM SUNDAY’S “AGAINST ALL ODDS”

There are several news items to report following Sunday’s “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View event! Remember, replays of the broadcast are still available all week long on InDemand, DirecTV and Dish Network!

CHRISTIAN CAGE CROWNED NEW NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
It was the crowning achievement of “Captain Charisma” Christian Cage’s career on Sunday night at “Against All Odds”, as the star defeated Jeff Jarrett to become the NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion! The bout saw the TNA debut of special referee Earl Hebner, who called it right down the middle as Cage ended the match after hitting the “Unprettier” on Jarrett. Following the match, fans hit the ring in celebration and lifted Cage over their heads in victory. Without a doubt, the world will hear from the new titleholder Christian Cage on Saturday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV!

SAMOA JOE RETAINS IN THREE-WAY REMATCH
It was perhaps the most anticipated rematch in TNA Wrestling history, as Samoa Joe retained the X Championship on Sunday night against the threat of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Rather than team up against “The Samoan Submission Machine”, Styles and Daniels chose to make it every man for himself, which may have cost them both the gold in the end. After a Muscle Buster, Joe beat AJ for the win. Daniels was seen after the bout saying “It’s not over…it’s far from over!”

ERIC YOUNG: “STING’S NOT GONE!”
Is Team Canada’s Eric Young paranoid, delusional – or does he have good reason to believe the man known as Sting isn’t gone from TNA? According to Young, he’s not convinced the star is retired – a claim that is earning him the anger of Scott D’Amore and Jeff Jarrett. Later that night, Young and “The Canadian Enforcer” Bobby Roode were beaten by Team 3D in a match fans voted for online.

JARRETT’S ARMY HAS DIRT ON JACKIE?
Last week, Scott D’Amore and Jeff Jarrett sent Alex Shelley on a mission with his camera – telling the X star to get some dirt on Jackie. Shelley returned with the goods on Saturday’s “iMPACT!”, apparently getting footage of Jackie in a compromising position. D’Amore showed off the tape at “Against All Odds”, asking Gail Kim for a public apology and telling Jackie – “Let’s see how you like it when the tables are turned on you!” D’Amore has promised to further reveal the contents of the tape on Saturday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV!

AMW RETAIN TAG TEAM GOLD FOLLOWING SABIN ANKLE INJURY
Also at “Against All Odds”, NWA World Tag Team Champions America’s Most Wanted successfully retained the gold against the team of Chris Sabin and Sonjay Dutt. AMW capitalized on Sabin’s recent ankle injury, attacking it throughout the bout. In the end, AMW were able to damage Sabin’s ankle to the point where he was unable to come to the aid of Dutt, who fell to the Death Sentence.

ABYSS TAKES THE PLUNGE AFTER A GORE!
It was all-out annihilation between “The War Machine” Rhino and “The Monster” Abyss at “Against All Odds”, as the two juggernauts went all over the TNA arena in their “Falls Count Anywhere” brawl. With tables, chairs, blood and a staple gun coming into play, the end saw Rhino hitting the Gore on Abyss from the arena stands, sending “The Monster” crashing down 15 feet below through four wooden tables. After the horrendous landing, Rhino covered Abyss for the win.

“MACHETE” MAKES DEBUT AS NEW MEMBER OF LAX
Konnan called in a new foot solider in his war against The James Gang at “Against All Odds”, debuting “Machete” as the newest member of The Latin American Exchange. However, the duo of Homicide and Machete were unable to take down BG and Kip, leading to a James Gang victory. The LAX attacked after the match, which brought out “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, who has a score to settle with Konnan. While “Bullet Bob” was ready for a fight, Konnan backed down and left the ring!

CHECK OUT THE REPLAY OF “AGAINST ALL ODDS” ALL THIS WEEK!

^I agree he isn't a talented an athelete as Owen Hart was but hes a very entertaining guy and deserves the recognition.

Jarrett ain't no washup either hes one of the best heels is the business, doesn't he have some part in the ownership in TNA?

Anyone know how long his TNA contract is for? I want to see him back in the WWE

Hey when jarret left WWF everyone thought his career was over. He was with TNA when people viewed them as another indie promotion, so i figured his career was over, thus making him a washup. Christian is a great tag teamer, i dont know about a main eventer.

^most of todays main eventers were tag teamers and no namers 10 years ago. Shit I remember when Triple H went by his real name when he first started in WCW, I never thought he would be a 10 time world heavyweight champ.

Christian is great on the mic, his wrestling ability could be better but hes fun to watch. Hes got a tiht finisher and hes a good (not great) high risk taker. I like him as a Heel though, if he beat Jarrett hes probably a babyface over there on TNA huh

When compared to Owen Hart, the attributes that Christian lacks, he makes up for in other departments. He's seriously the shadowed younger brother. He's always played second fiddle. He's the Owen Hart of our era.

I agree.

IMO I dont even think Edge is taht tight. I always like Christian better.

nope, not related. edge is adam copland and christian is jay reso. they just played brothers in wwe.

Christian is well deserving of a title run in tna, he is talented and much better than jarrett.
