Earlier today on ESPN Radio Max and Marcellus

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/losange...ay?id=13627009

Max talks about Floyd's Testosterone/Epitestosterone ratio.

Avg white man 1.2 to 1 T/E.

Avg. black man 1.3 to 1 T/E.

WADA allows athletes to have T/E ratio as high as 4.0 to 1.

Floyd's T/E in previous tests was 0.69 to 1 and 0.8 to 1.

Low ratio of T/E some consider a red flag for PED use because it indicates "masking" to hide/lower high testosterone levels.

::::::::::::::::::::::

Personally, I think he used the iv just for rehydration. The thing is he was doing random testing throughout all of camp and used the iv the night before the fight (after the weigh in) so if he tested clean all before that what would he be masking? Nothing. But he fucked up and messed up on this rule and this whole story has snowballed out of control it may even taint his entire career. I believe if he wasn't such an asshole and if people didn't hate him so much this wouldn't be as big of a deal as it is but this has grown into something of its own

Amir and I were texting yesterday. He told me flat out he is not fighting Provodnikov and that he and his team are talking to Top Rank about a fight with Pacquiao when Manny comes back around Feb/March/April.

I also think Floyd used it for rehydration reasons, but he fucked up bigtime. You can't come out saying, "Ariza told me to rehydrate better by drinking PowerAde," "i'm the cleanest fighter in all sports," to "I follow guidelines." You just don't do that. I know he doesn't agree with his father in a lot of things, but even Floyd Sr was like "fuck Ariza."

If he did not follow protocol and special exemptions were made he (or whoever made them) need to be held accountable. If he followed protocol but someone else fucked up the person (agency) who fucked up needs to be held accountable.

Can someone clarify this for me. When did Manny and his camp find out about the TUE?

I'm not justifying it by any means, it's a stupid fight. It's his way of saying FUCK YOU to everyone, I think.

I don't really care that much, if he were to fight on which ai believe he will. Not a lot different from Ali fighting killer fights in Frazier and George Foreman....and then fighting Chuck fucking Wepner. Difference of course is you didn't have to pay $70 to watch that fight, but if Ali could have got away with it he would have charged everyone (no PPV yet at that time) since Ali was kind of a whore to money himself (like shamelessly fighting that "MMA fight" for $10 million or whatever he got paid).

But yeah, Khan, Thurman even Garcia would have been better than Berto, but it's Floyd we're talking about here he's an asshole.
Mayweather (or any top fighter from this era) isn't comparable to fighters from previous eras in terms of taking fights. Mayweather fights 2 times a year MAX. The year Ali fought Wepner he also fought Ron Lyle & Joe Frazier with another semi easy fight in Bugner thrown in there. The year before that when Ali fought twice he fought George Foreman & Joe Frazier.

Also FWIW, Wepner was on a decent stretch that included a win over former champ Ernie Terrell.

I don't care how much Floyd charges for his fights, nor do I care if he takes a "winnable" fight. I'm just not a fan of Berto being the fight when there's better fights out there. Oh well I'll still be watching, but I likely won't order this one.

I re watched Floyd/Maidana 1 & 2 last night and figured I drop some tidbits to see what the brehs think...... that looping right that comes over the top is ether for shoulder roll defense he landed it all night on AB and he landed it a good amount of times in the first Floyd fight. Sam Peter was effective against Toney with that same punch too. I know we see that punch and go that sh_t is a bolo" but that's exactly why its effective it's not a standard punch. The 2nd punch that Mosley threw that almost dropped Floyd was the same exact punch. Anyway Floyd used his legs more won the fight etc.

So I'm watching the 2nd fight and Maidana still using the same gameplan for the first two rounds. Now we get to the third and I'm noticing Maidana is throwing straighter punches then the end of the third comes and Floyd gets hit with some sh_t that I would prob still be asleep from

Robert Garcia's plan was to make Floyd think it was going to be another brawl tighten the offense up and hit him with some sh_t his ancestors would feel and he would not be expecting. That sh_t was the perfect gameplan, it didn't work out and I think Floyd eating that shot took away some of Maidana's will but had Floyd's chin not been A+

Dan Rafael chat wrap 9/11:

- This is the final Friday chat in the current format. There will be a new format/platform announced soon. No idea when it will take place.

Floyd vs. Berto - or just Floyd related:
- Favorite Mayweather fight? Enjoyed the first fight he covered of his (Augustus) and Cotto.
- Floyd's IV-Gate is over in his eyes. Floyd did nothing against the rules of USADA or the Nevada commission, although it was against WADA code.
- Has no info on why Floyd took the IV. Some insiders told him it is a legitimate way to try and mask PED's, which is why the scandal makes some people suspicious of Floyd. Seems a bit sketchy that photos show Floyd within a pound or two of the contracted weight a month out, yet needs an IV for dehydration. We should think differently about the rumors regarding Floyd failing multiple drug tests in the past.
- Seems a bit hypocritical that Floyd is okay to take these IV's, yet Pacquiao was criticized for wanting a Toradol shot.
- Has not heard anything in regards to the rumor of the PPV price being dropped (from $75 in HD).
- Despite both having 3 losses, Khan is more deserving of a Floyd fight than Berto. Khan's losses are better and he has looked better recently than Berto.
- His choice for Mayweather's opponents based on who deserved it and who was available would have been Khan.
- Mayweather says he wants to KO Berto. Doesn't buy it. We'll get the same Mayweather as usual and a Mayweather win by UD.
- Believes Floyd will retire temporarily and probably get pulled back in from the lure of the ring. ODH says not a day goes by that he doesn't feel like fighting again. Roger also said he believes the retirement doesn't stick.
- The buzz is almost non-existent in LV.
- Ellerbe actually asked (in regards to Berto as an opponent): What's the difference between Berto and Thurman?
- Biggest upset: Berto over Floyd, Zefara over Quillin, or Karpency over Floyd? Berto beating Floyd.
- If he could choose one fighter he wished Floyd would have fought: Freitas, Tszyu, or Casamayor? Casamayor.
- Expects this PPV to sell less than Mayweather's vs. Guerrero.
- Had Floyd-Castillo 1 a draw.
- The other Floyd fight that got a lot of criticism was Bruseles.
- If he could only buy one, which one: Berto-Mayweather, GGG-Lemieux, Cotto-Canelo? Cotto-Canelo.
- A seasoned Mayweather who once fought at 154 vs. a very early RJJ who initially started at 154? RJJ.
- Floyd vs. GGG at 154? GGG by stoppage.
- Best atmosphere he has ever witnessed in person? Mayweather-Hatton, maybe Mayweather-Canelo.
- The MGM really did run out of beer during Mayweather-Hatton.

The rest of the chat:
- Imam is a big player at 140 if he fights regularly.
- Doubts Stevenson and Kovalev ever fight.
- Groves vs. Jack? Groves.
- Texted with Khan and he is absolutely not taking a fight vs. Provodnikov. He is talking with TR about making a fight with Pacquiao when he returns early 2016. Amir said that Haymon would sign off on the fight if the deal was right.
- Has not decided on his official Cotto-Canelo pick, but is leaning towards Canelo.
- Valdez vs. Avalos? Valdez.
- Not sure what is next for Thurman, but hoping it is Porter.
- Joshua vs. Klitschko will not happen any time soon.
- Wilder vs. Briggs would not interest him.
- Would like to see Trout vs. Julian Williams fight.
- No opponent yet for Ortiz on GGG's PPV. Stiverne is definitely out.
- Picking Salido KO10.
- Martirosyan UD over Smith in a terrible fight.
- Expects K9 to lose.
- Last year the organizing bodies (WBO excluded) said they were only going to have 1 belt per division. Nothing has been done on that front and doubts it ever will.
- Chris Arreola vs. Andy Ruiz would be a delightful mess of a fight.
- Moving PBC on ESPN to Wednesday nights will probably affect viewership quite a bit.
- Best fighter he has ever seen in person? RJJ.
- Who is better: Margarito or Cotto? Cotto.
- No idea who Lomachenko will fight next. They are having a hard time finding a quality opponent willing to fight him.
- Worst excuse he has heard from a fighter on why he lost? #toe
- Verdejo likely fights late October in Orlando.
- Brook vs. Chavez seems like a no brainer for Showtime International boxing...but no word on if they are picking it up.
- Wlad vs. Fury will have attendance over 50k.
- Best one punch KO fighter? Kovalev.
- TR is still working on Donaire vs. Quigg.
- Favorite Gatti fight (outside of Ward)? Wilson Rodriguez. Gatti told him (and Malignaggi) that when he was dropped in the Rodriguez fight his first thought was "I just bought a new Viper and I haven't paid for it yet".
- Buy or sell Brook vs. Mosely if Brook beats Chavez? Sell.
- Pacquiao's KO of Hatton is one of the best he has seen live, along with Martinez-Williams 2.
- GB resigned Canelo to a multi-year contract.
- Allakhverdiev has a good chance to beat Broner. He is a good boxer.

As far as I know, top rank/Pacquiao didn't know until weeks after the fight and Pacquiao just learned yesterday to the extent of all of this stuff.

SB Nation also reported that USADA did not inform the Nevada commission about the IV until May 21, when it sent correspondence to commission officials and Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter, notifying them that Mayweather had been given a retroactive therapeutic-use exemption, which was allowed in the contract the fighters signed to cover the drug-testing protocol for the bout. However, when the commission and Top Rank requested more information about it, they learned Mayweather had not applied for the exemption until May 19. It was granted May 20, the report said.

While Mayweather was given an exemption three weeks after the fight, Pacquiao was denied a request to be injected with the legal painkiller Toradol on fight night to ease pain in his injured rotator cuff, which he had surgery on after the bout. The commission declined Pacquiao's request because it was not made in a timely manner, and he had not previously disclosed the injury.

"The TUE for Mayweather's IV -- and the IV was administered at Floyd's house, not in a medical facility, and wasn't brought to our attention at the time -- was totally unacceptable," Bennett is quoted as saying in the report. "I've made it clear to [USADA CEO] Travis Tygart that this should not happen again. We have the sole authority to grant any and all TUEs in the state of Nevada. USADA is a drug-testing agency. USADA should not be granting waivers and exemptions. Not in this state. We are less than pleased that USADA acted the way it did."

Means nothing! Look how phenomenal he looked when he lost to bum ass Soto Karass

Only reason I think Floyd might struggle is because what a fucking let down to go from Pacquiao biggest fight of his life to Berto biggest cherry pick of his life, he may not be motivated

Bro, Wepner sucked. He was punching bag and in no way shape or form was a decent fight for Ali. There were far better opponents for Ali to fight. Wepner lost 10 times before he fought Ali and badly too. He was terrible, he just had a great beard he was a true tough guy but his skills were comical. But they chose wepner because he did suck, because Ali would look great against him and it would be an easy fight. I'm not comparing Mayweather to Ali lol I know fighting more frequently and all that, Ali showed a million times more toughness than Floyd, my point was you can go throughout history and find TONS of all time great fighters fighting scrubs after huge fights. Happened all the time. I'm not justifying the Berto fight either like I said several times, I'm just saying while disappointing, its fairly common in boxing, it happens, I'm not worried about it.

I wasn't arguing Wepner's quality was just saying at the very least he had a quality win in his win streak going into the fight. Man my main point was that guys used to be more active, so Ali fighting Wepner to me isn't the same as anyone these days taking a scrub fight unless that person if fighting 3-4 times a year. As I said earlier, I don't mind "easy" fights from active fighters it just sucks when an ATG that's still active only fights twice a year and one of those is against Berto.
