Quick question.

Do they not have flight attendants anymore that fly with kids. Im tryna have my son he's 2 almost 3 fly out to from NM Albuquerque to Sacramento to see me.

I hit expedia and they said do to airline restrictions they couldnt qoute me on kids without adults only (15-18) my baby mom is cool with the idea of him flying with an attendant at first i wasn't but i cant find time from work and truthfully thats kinda pricey to pay for two round trips for me and then pay for a round trip for him as well.

If it comes down to it of course im gonna have to break bread.. but if anybody can shine some light on my situation or know any good cheap airlines that be dope. good look in advance bruh-goons.

I think usually the unaccompanied minor services are for ages 5 & up... it might depend on the airline though.

i wouldnt even put my child on a greyhound if i hated him/her...i know people that have been raped on greyhound and u talkin bout puttin a kid on there...damn woadie

my parents were divorced as a kid and i flew on planes all the time. i can tell you from first hand accounts, even though i dont know about 2010, i was first priority on the flight

I know I did that shit when I was 7 or 8 and they just stuck a name tag on me and fed me juice. 2-3 years old seems pretty young though. What you need is a nanny to ride out with the kid, I can't imagine any non-day care company agreeing to watch a 3 year old.

Yeah the age seems to be the biggest problem. Is he potty trained, because no one will change his diapers as part of the kids flying thing. I was like 11 when I did it and I just had a nametag and the flight attendants would always check on you and keep an eye on you and also take to to and from the gates if you had to transfer. A 2 year old needs like minute to minute attention though. How long is the drive out there, maybe that could be an option.

Unaccompanied Minors
These policies apply on Southwest Airlines only. Other airlines (including codeshare partners) may have different policies and procedures.

For more information on Southwest Airlines policies regarding Unaccompanied Minors, please see Policies, Frequently Asked Questions, and Tips for Children Traveling Alone.

Children age five through 11 may travel unaccompanied on Southwest Airlines as long as they have a confirmed reservation on a nonstop or direct flight (makes a stop but does not require change of planes or flight number). Proof of age may be required.
Effective for reservations purchased or changed on or after April 23, 2010, Southwest Airlines will collect a $50 one-way service charge for children traveling as Unaccompanied Minors.
Southwest Airlines will not transport Unaccompanied Minors on flights we think might be cancelled or diverted due to weather or other operational situations.
When making reservations, please advise the Customer Representative at 1-800 I FLY SWA that the booking is for an “Unaccompanied Minor”.
Southwest Airlines asks that you have the Unaccompanied Minor check in at the Departure Gate at least 45 minutes prior to departure. An Unaccompanied Minor form must be completed and the $50 one-way service charge must be collected before Southwest Airlines can accept the child for travel. View Unaccompanied Minor form in PDF format. The Unaccompanied Minor form will be inserted in the Unaccompanied Minor lanyard. The lanyard must be worn by the child throughout the entire flight and is needed for Southwest Airlines Employees to identify Unaccompanied Minors.
The child will preboard and be introduced to the Flight Attendant as an Unaccompanied Minor. Unaccompanied Minors arriving too late to preboard will be boarded last or between boarding groups to ensure proper introduction and identification to the Flight Attendant.
When the flight arrives at its final destination, the unaccompanied child will be escorted off the aircraft by a uniformed Southwest Airlines Employee and released to the person designated on the Unaccompanied Minor form or another designated Southwest Airlines Employee.
The receiving party should follow the Suggested Airport Arrival Times in order to allow time to obtain an “escort pass,” which grants access through security checkpoint to meet the child at the aircraft’s Gate. A federally-sponsored identity verification process at the ticket counter is required before issuing an “escort pass.” The party picking up the child must be the person designated on the Unaccompanied Minor form, which is completed at the beginning city of the journey. Southwest Airlines will require the designated receiving party to produce positive identification and sign a release for the Unaccompanied Minor.

In some cases, there may be a brief wait in receiving the child while Southwest Airlines personnel are engaged in the release of other unaccompanied children or the departure of another aircraft. We hope you will understand that the time spent is for the safety of your unaccompanied child.

Age Requirements for an Unaccompanied Minor
An unaccompanied minor is a child between the ages of 5 and under 14 years traveling alone. There is an $85 per person fee each way for unaccompanied minors traveling on JetBlue.

Once children reach their fourteenth birthday they are no longer considered unaccompanied minors if they are traveling alone. However, customers may request additional assistance under these circumstances by calling JetBlue.

Booking an Unaccompanied Minor
Children between the ages of 5 and under 14 years who will be traveling alone are considered unaccompanied minors. The child traveling unaccompanied must have reached their fifth birthday by the date of travel to jet on JetBlue. A child who has reached their fourteenth birthday and is traveling alone is no longer considered an unaccompanied minor.

Please let us know that a child will be traveling unaccompanied when making their reservation and be prepared to supply the Reservation crewmember with the name, address and phone number, as it appears on the photo ID, of the person dropping off and picking up the child.

If you are booking the unaccompanied minor on jetblue.com, we ask that you call us after receiving your confirmation number to provide us with this information. There is an $85 per person fee each way for unaccompanied minors which will be assessed at that time. Please note: the fee must be paid at the time of booking.

Photo identification is required for both parties who will be dropping off and picking up the child. The child will not be accepted or released without the guardian’s photo ID. Please see specific documentation requirements below based on origin and destination country.

Additionally, it is important for the person dropping off the child that they give a JetBlue Airport Crewmember their phone number before leaving the airport so that we can contact them in the event of a gate return.

Unaccompanied minors may only travel on nonstop or direct flights (flights that make a stop but do not change aircraft) and may not travel with a child under the age of five. As a courtesy, unaccompanied minors will be seated as close to the front of the aircraft as possible so that the Inflight crew can assist them when needed.

Pick up & Drop off Requirements
Photo identification is required for both parties who drop off and pick up an unaccompanied minor. Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted without the guardian's photo ID.

If a gate pass is issued, it is the TSA's decision as to whether a young child may pass through security with the adult.

drop off information

Since guidelines vary among airports, please check the unaccompanied minor drop off section under the specific airport the unaccompanied minor is jetting from to determine if a gate pass may be issued. This information can be found by entering the airport name in the search field, then selecting the Unaccompanied Minor Information link under the main airport heading.

If a gate pass is issued, we request that the person dropping off the child leave a cell phone number with the airport so that a JetBlue Crewmember can contact them to meet their child in the event of a gate return.

pick up information

Since guidelines vary among airports, please check the unaccompanied minor pick up section under the specific airport the unaccompanied minor is jetting to, to determine if a gate pass may be issued. This information can be found by entering the airport name in the search field, then selecting the Unaccompanied Minor Information link under the main airport heading.

Please arrive at the airport no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival.

The child will only be released to the person indicated on the unaccompanied minor form or on the reservation and that person must present their government issued photo ID.

Unaccompanied Minors on Other Airlines
Unaccompanied minors may not travel on connecting flights (flights that make a stop and change aircraft). JetBlue does not provide any escort for unaccompanied minors to flights connecting with other airlines. Customers will be responsible for any transfer of their minors from JetBlue to other airlines.

Please note: If an unaccompanied minor is travelling on a thru flight he/she will remain onboard with the Inflight Crew. If there is a Crew change, the unaccompanied minor will be handed over to the Gate AO Crew until the Inflight Crew arrives.

heres some info that might help...

Unaccompanied Minors
Children ages 5 - 14 who travel without a parent or guardian are known as "unaccompanied minors." Many airlines will not allow children who are under 7 to make connections at all, but in the event a minor is old enough to change planes, they will probably be assisted by airline personnel and a fee of $75 - $100 will be charged. Some airlines, Southwest for example, will not allow any minor (5 - 11) to change planes. On US Airways, a child must be at least 15 years old to take a flight with a connection.

If you intend to send an unaccompanied minor by plane (with or without a connection), you will be required to fill out a form detailing the child's name, age, medical considerations and other relevant information. Upon arrival, children will be escorted from the aircraft by a flight attendant and released to the person named by you prior to departure.

In addition, you will have to agree that the airline is not taking on any special responsibility of guardianship during the flight. Legally, an unaccompanied minor is treated in the same way as an adult passenger.

General Age Guidelines
Airline rules vary, but here's a good idea of what to expect on domestic flights:

Children ages 1 - 4 may fly only when accompanied by an adult. A child must be at least 5 to fly alone.

Kids ages 5 - 7 can take a direct flight to a single destination but not connecting flights.
