it's odd to me how the media has been demonizing chicago these last couple of years for it's violence... but the stats show that there was 500 homicides in 2012, and 415 last year

meanwhile, chicago averaged 650 homicides each year between 2000-2004, but nobody was saying shit back then

i guess this is the early stages of gentrification

I liked how when the national media first really started focusing on the violence in Chicago they decided to say it was more or less all directly attributed to Chief Keef and drill music. Blaming a then 16 year old kid and a form of rap music for the gang wars that had been going on there for over four decades was pretty hilarious and sad at the same time but you know the news has to sensationalize shit.
