naner12 @naner12 you stillfollow the amateur scene much? There was a cool national article about 17 year old American Shakur Stevenson (named after 2pac) who says he emulates Rigondeaux, Mayweather and Ward. Basically saying he's one of the brightest looking Olympic hopefuls for 2016 (they say he's 14-0 against international foes so far). Plus the kid has a fucking awesome throwback Julian Jackson style flat top!

Not as much as I used to, to be honest. But I heard about him when he took home gold at the JWC in September and watched a bit of him then. Considering not many young Americans win gold in that event unless he has a major collapse he's almost guaranteed to represent in the Olympics.

Superb video on Golovkin regarding his footwork which is where his power comes from. It shows a lot of technical details of how GGG constantly positions himself to be in an advantage. Definitely worth the watch. Kids training should watch some of this stuff:

Nice little example of this os when Martinez hurt Barker, although hard to say if this was intentional or just following up on s punch that he over committed on. Nonetheless excellent shot

Just to critique the Golovkin video a lil bit I don't think it's really a lost art as more of a lack of definition for the move (that Dempsey described in his boxing manual)

As moderator of this forum the only football related avatars allowed are the Seahawks or Bears. Beyond that any boxer is allowed, as well as historical Communists such as Lenin, Trotsky and Che.
So what you're saying is that you root for 2 out of the last 3 teams to knock us out of the playoffs, 1 of them twice and one of them us stopped us from playing in a super bowl with Rex Grossman of all people as QB.

And your political interest align with a system that imprisoned family members of mine? Next thing you'll tell me that you worked on the levee's in New Orleans.

I think I may hate you.

You admire and respect me, comrade!

Saints won a Superbowl, don't be greedy now!

Now let's be clear - I'm a Marxist/Leninist/Trotskyist. Cuba never really had a chance since they aligned and modeled themselves with Stalinist USSR (which ideologically I oppose). Che was the truth though.

I was just fucking around. And we may use the word admire in completely different ways.

The problem with shifting is that you are crossing your feet, which is basically something you are taught not to do the first day (ok maybe second) of doing footwork. For a brief moment your legs don't have proper positioning and you are squared up. If you get caught during that shift you will easily get hit with a flash knockdown. Just a very aggressive move that risks defense for a positive in offense. People still do it. Not trying to bring MMA into the scene but Machida does it a lot, since it's pretty standard in Karate.

Anyone want to see Andre Dirrell beat the shit out of J'leon Love?!

What's funny is recently there were rumors that Dirrell was whoopin on him in sparring and Love denied it saying he never got whooped. Well there is the proof.

Hopefully Dirrell stays active because that Dirrell in sparring is fun to watch

That's good stuff. It's not that it's not used today, it's just that people don't do it that well. It's best used against guys that don't have the best footwork. I don't think it would work against someone like Floyd or Lara for very long for instance. But can you imagine Tyson doing that in his prime? That would be horrifying. It's like you're running downhill at an opponent. It's not something I've ever done in the ring for sure because I'm big on controlling range and using angles. There's maybe only one guy I've trained that I would consider teaching that to. He was this dude from Africa and one of the strongest dudes I ever met and punched crazy hard, but he was a bit of a pussy so I don't think he would've made a great boxer. If he was tougher and incorporated stuff like that, he would've been hard to beat though.

Haven't watched, Dan Rafael said "likely fight of the year". Quality isn't the best:

I hype up the fight before it happens, say how awesome it is in the august thread and you guys listen to Fat Dan! Btw it's free leech in HD on both WBVA and BT, definitely worth a download. Uploaded by the best ever.

Lol I guess I was too busy raging about the tranny garcia vs Ron Sansa debacle.

Speaking of that I am proud the boxing community really came together and slammed Espinoza / Showtime / Haymon / Garcia on twitter. I don't recall seeing that amount of backlash in a long time. Now Hopefully the ratings were horrible (totally will be pointless if the ratings turned out great).
