Lex released like 1000 songs in a 3-year period, 900 of which sounded the same or similar. I'm not surprised he disappeared recently. I mean, how many times can you make the same exact shit? Did he get creatively exhausted?

He is definitely still the King of trap beats, with Southside right up there.

yeah ive been wondering the same thing about luger as well. maybe his prices for beats these days are too steep. and due to the many lex luger clones, people probably take their money elsewhere for a cheaper alternative. just my thoughts on it.
but yeah you right, definitely the beat and the content. i was looking at a 50 cent interview and even 50 said keef is at his best when he is doing street records.

Creative exhaustion was expected to come from the very beginning - the sound has its limitations after all.

This applies to Southside too - recent Bricksquad material has had a lot of Southside beats that were OK but somehow didn't have the same effect as when they initially came up with that style.

I am sure they are fully aware of the problem, that's why 808 Mafia was created and Lex has repeatedly said in interviews he wants to get out of the trap. And I've seen a number of the non-trap beats from him recently but the trap ones are still the best

The same will happen to Young Chop too - let's see how the next GBE releases are in terms of beats, but he has the same fundamental problem. From time to time, people come up with new variations of the trap sound, they mine them to exhaustion, then either everyone moves on to the next thing (this year it was GBE and Young Chop) or there is a period of stagnation before the next thing appears. For example, I still see whole mixtapes with mostly Zaytoven beats, they are the same beats he was making 5-6 years ago and nobody is really paying attention to them, me incluided.

is it me or did CDs used to have like at least 16 songs on it, closer to the 20's. i might be high as shit but i dont remember many CDs that had under 16 songs on it growing up
