LOL, Right on the heels of K2's official announcement of GGG vs. Dominic Wade.

WHo're these fighters trying to fool?
He got devoured on Twitter for that lol every single comment calling him out for his bullshit. K2 even went to the UK to make a deal to fight there and Saunders literally told the media he needs 18 months at least to prepare for Golovkin lol

Anyways, if Canelo doesn't fight Golovkin after Khan I'm going to lose my shit. Sometimes boxing can be such bullshit and this whole middleweight situation for the past couple years is a perfect example. The last time two actual middleweight fought for the belt with no catchweight was Sergio Martinez vs Martin Murray!!! Fuck

It seems those UK boxing shows confront their fighters about these type of things, it'd be nice if they'd make an example out of one of these middleweight s and send the message that ducking is lame and not tolerated.

Not likely but...

Able Sanchez is on record saying he's not thinking that they'll get Canelo this year. I only hope that he'll be stripped of his title.

Yeah but Tom Loeffler GGGs promoter is saying they fully expect the Canelo fight this year. He says now it's fully in writing, etc. Not sure how that's different from this last time but we'll see. It boils down to the WBC. If they actually stick to their rules this fight will be enforced. If they try some slick shit like they often do, then maybe Canelo gets out of it. Maybe they have Canelo vacate then make him champion emeritus lol.

It all comes down to structure. The IBF is cool because they are the opposite of the WBC and enforce mandatories no matter what. The downside to that is Tyson Fury being stripped for rematching Wlad and some new shitty fighter in Martin is champion. We also get lots of crappy mandatory fights because the IBF rankings are often pretty wonky, resulting in pointless fights like Golovkin vs Wade, Kovalev vs Muhammadi or Hopkins vs Murat. Still, it's a better system then the bullshit the WBC pulls. I'd rather have the occasional shitty mandatory in exchange for actual fucking structure. The WBC just makes up shit as they go.

I told you guys and then DLH said it, Canelo vs GGG in 2017. The WBC will back up Canelo because he is Mexican, the #1 draw in boxing, and the lineal champ. I've never said I disagree with you but I'm just stating facts, not opinion. GBP have said recently that the fight with Khan was supposed to be at 154 but Canelo had to defend the title,(to make it look like he's doing a mandatorty defense). But now the question becomes who will fight whom next? I honestly think Lara vs GGG will come next. Canelo will fight Lemieux or Rosado next. But Canelo will only fight twice this year, GGG 3 times.

There is something going on though as 2 Haymon fighters are fighting on HBO and I believe when the Broner vs Theophane was supposed to be on Showtime, it recently found a home on Spike. With these types of moves going on, all SB's want to be patient and hold back just incase they get into the bigger money fights. With the money Jacobs and Lara want, Haymon has no choice but to maybe serve them to HBO and GGG. Every SB wants to make it look like they are being strict, but there is always money involved.

Why you making up shit? Canelo vs Khan is a voluntary fight for Canelo. If Canelo wanted to he could have fought Khan at 154, but he chose not to become a) he's most comfortable at his fake weight class and b) he wanted his belt on the line. A voluntary fight is just that - voluntary. He didn't "have to defend" the belt.

Also, you have straight up defended Canelo and the WBC, you weren't simple stating facts so cut the bullshit man.

If Canelo doesn't fight Golovkin after this they will either try to get him stripped and fight for the vacant title, fight Saunders if he's still a champion or perhaps whoever beats Saunders, or I can see him leaving the division going after DeGale or someone like that. They aren't going to wait around for Canelo until 2017.

Calm down and read carefully. I said what GBP said. But I don't agree with the fight vs Khan. What I said is that if the WBC was to go by their rules, they would have given GGG a 50/50 split and that's not fair to Canelo. Now, this fight is a voluntary fight by Canelo, in order for the WBC to view it as a such, it had to be withing the middle weight limit. I put that part in parenthesis because I don't see the fight vs Khan as a real middle weight fight. Each case is different and you should see it as such too

2-0-Sixx @2-0-Sixx GGG is gonna wait til 2017. K2 and his camp want the max dollar and will listen to GBP in everything they say. Check it out, even Haymon gave in after Floyd was just done talking shit about DLH. This wouldn't be a sport if no business was involved, remember that

You're on some bullshit man because we can go back in this thread where u specifically say Canelo shouldn't fight Golovkin, giving him a pass, etc etc etc. Also the 50/50 remark you keep mentioning is BS as well since k2 have been on record saying their more than happy taking a smaller split of the pie and that they are under no illusions that Canelo isn't a bigger star. That was never an issue. The 50/50 comes from IF it were to go to a purse bid, which wouldn't happen if both sides were willing to fight obviously.

Its not much of a sport if there is no structure and all "business", not sure how u can be a fan of fuckery instead of actual structure and rules.

I doubt K2 waits till 2017 unless they have an actual contract in place to fight (date, venue, all that). Otherwise they will enforce mandatory after the Khan/wade fights. They've been waiting long enough and Golovkin isn't some young kid.

If I'm on some bullshit then why didn't K2 enforce the whole "winner of the Cotto vs Canelo fight must fight GGG next or get stripped" rule to the WBC? When GBP and K2 talked in LA, what made you think that this couldn't have gone to a purse bid. DLH on record said right now it's 90-10 split in favor of Canelo. The truth, a 60-40 split in favor of Canelo right now is still too much to give to GGG and K2 agreed. That's why they didn't enforce anything on the WBC. Don't forget, GBP was involved in GGG's last ppv and they know what the real numbers are. Now, please answer my first question. I said already I don't disagree with you but this is a business.

They didn't have much of a choice. If they forced a purse bid Canelo would have dropped the belt and no fight happens at all. The WBC brokered this deal between the two sides. So k2 was left with choosing between enforcing mandatory and Canelo dropping the belt or working out a deal in good faith to fight later this year. They chose the latter obviously. There comes a time, very soon, where K2/Golovkin cannot accept anymore extensions, Golovkin isn't some young kid and he's been waiting a very long time. Golovkin can't keep fighting Dominic Wades of the world. After Khan they won't take no for an answer.

If Ward beats Kovalev and GGG fights Canelo and wins, a meeting at 168 next year is massive. #boxing

Dan Rafael chat wrap 2/12:

- Matthysse vs. Provodnikov 2 is a great fight, but it won't be happening anytime soon.
- Zero chance of a Matthysse-Garcia rematch.
- Has been going back and forth with Tarver via text all morning regarding his positive test. Does not believe he was set up. He is delusional and it is sad.
- Tarver keeps saying "they" are out to get him. He asked him who "they" is. He has no answer.
- The private agency that was used to test Tarver's sample was used because they test for more than what the NJ commission tests for. Similar to using VADA or USADA. These more sophisticated tests are what Haymon is saying he wants for his fights.
- Tarver will likely be suspended in NJ again for filling out his child care form wrong.
- Fan wrote in: regarding Tarver's child support the judge should say: You're the magic man, make the money appear.
- Spence likely to fight in April. One fight being discussed is vs. Algieri at Barclay's.
- The IBF rankings leave a lot to be desired when Wade is considered the mandatory for GGG.
- How many rounds will GGG vs. Wade go? As many as GGG chooses.
- Wilder and Povetkin are in the midst of discussing negotiation. If they don't come to terms in the next 10 days or so it will go to purse bid.
- Joshua vs. Martin? They are talking about the fight, but has doubts it gets done. Martin wants the fight.
- Odd that February is traditionally a slow month for boxing. It really has no real sports competition, it would be a great month to have fights in. Having two competing network cards on 2/27, when the rest of the month is slow is odd for sure.
- It would be a really bad look for Spike if they did not fire Tarver. Showtime fired him after 1 positive test.
- Thompson is a decent opponent for Ortiz. It is also reasonable because no one else would agree to fight Ortiz.
- Would HBO approve Briggs to fight Ortiz? Not sure, but Ortiz would destroy him.
- Talked with Yvon Michel at Kovalev vs. Pascal and there is a good chance Stevenson's next fight will be vs. Fonfara.
- Crawford vs. Postol is one of his top 5 best unification fights right now.
- Odds for the best unification fights? Gonzalez-Estrada is likely, hopeful on GGG-Canelo, no chance for Fury-Klitschko/Wilder, even less chance for Kovalev-Stevenson, and Crawford-Postol is possible but doubtful this year.
- Better defensively: Mayweather or Whitaker? Whitaker.
- Purses for Canelo vs. Khan? We will see when purses get filed with the commission, but is pretty sure Canelo is getting at least $10 million.
- Broner vs. Theophane is a horrible fight.
- Yes the PBC broadcast was late on a weekday, but it was still shockingly bad. Half of their previous lowest numbers. Attributes it to the fact it was: on too late, poor matchmaking, weak promotion, and unknown main event fighters.
- Vargas vs. Salido is still up to if HBO wants to purchase the fight. Both camps want it. Believes we may hear something about this fight by next week.
- Good chance Glowacki vs. Steve Cunningham takes place in April.
- Cunningham is a good dude who works hard and was never given anything. Very easy to root for.
- Zab Judah took a 25k signing bonus from Greg Cohen and then turned down numerous fights. The one fight he took he got into a fight at the weigh in, so it was cancelled. Cohen released him and Zab is supposed to give the signing bonus back. There is a reason Zab has been with a lot of promoter's. He wears out his welcome fast.
- Ramirez's chances vs. Abraham? Good. He will be the underdog, but he is longer, younger, fresher, and taller.
- ESPN will have a PBC show in April.
- Why are boxing fans down on Khan vs. Canelo? A lot of boxing fans aren't happy unless they are bitter.
- PPV prediction for Kovalev vs. Stevenson? 250k if they are lucky.
- Arroyo could be a tough test for Chocolatito. He is a quality contender whose only loss was in Thailand by split decision to Amnat for a title, who he dropped in the fight.
- If Chocolatito faces Estrada later this year, it potentially could be Chocolatito's first opportunity to headline a card.
- Most disappointing fight he ever covered? Mayweather-Pacquiao.
- By the WBA's new belt consolidation plan, Fury and Klitschko take their contractual rematch and Ortiz and Ustinov will be ordered to fight each other, the winner of Ortiz-Ustinov becomes the mandatory for Fury-Klitschko. If one of the fighters wants to take a unification vs. Wilder, the WBA would likely grant it.
- Who will Cotto fight next? TBA, but they have been talking with JMM.
- Should be an announcement next week for Beterbiev's next fight. Expects him to fight in March/April.
- Ward lost 2 years of his prime because he had a legally binding contract (that was upheld by California courts and the commission twice). He never had a case and tried to weasel out of it. He should have been a man and fulfilled the 2 fights and walked away.
- If Goosen had not passed away, it is very likely that Ward would still not be fighting right now.
- Ward's next fight on HBO will have a televised undercard. No word yet on who it could be.
- More growing hostility towards: Ward, LSC, or Stevenson? Ward.
- Main Events is worried that Ward will bail on the Kovalev deal.
- How does Ward rank in most high-maintenance fighters he has ever covered? He is up there.
- Will Margarito get a big fight in his return to the ring? Possible he may get one eventually, but he will get destroyed. He is done.
- Prime Holyfield vs. Lennox? Lennox.
- Duran vs. Mosley at 135? One of the greatest fantasy fights ever. Shane would give Duran everything he could handle, but Duran is the best ever at 135, so Duran.
- Hearns vs. Tito and Frazier vs. Holyfield? Both great fights. Hearns-Tito would be about whoever landed first and Frazier vs. Holyfield would be a war.
- Saddens him daily that Matthysse vs. Maidana has never been made. Eric Gomez from GB were talking yesterday and Gomez told him that they were 1 day away from making Matthysse vs. Maidana. Matthysse was negotiating with Alexander and Alexander turned down the fight. He was going to make the Maidana fight instead. Richard Schaeffer told Gomez to give Alexander one more day and the next day Alexander agreed to the fight, so Matthysse-Maidana was never made.
- Which division has the most talent? Welterweight.
- On a scale of 1-10, how confident is he that GGG-Canelo happens this year? 5.
- Wlad and Fury have agreed on a rematch, what needs to be decided is the site and date. They have to work with Sky, RTL, and HBO, so it isn't easy negotiations.
- Rank who had the most successful boxing career (ODH, RJJ, Hopkins, Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Tito): 1. Floyd, 2. Pacquiao, 3. RJJ, 4. Hopkins, 5. ODH, 6. Tito.
- What is the delay in making a fight for Lomacheknko? Money, finding an opponent, and the HBO schedule.
- Pretty sure Arreola didn't care if he tested positive for marijuana or not.
- Frampton vs. Quigg will be show live on Showtime Extreme and replayed later on regular Showtime.
- Sturm have anything left for Chudinov? Not really, but Chudinov isn't a world beater so anything is possible.
- Likes the idea of a potential Saul Rodriguez vs. Felix Verdejo fight.
- Doubts we see JMM vs. Pacquiao 5.
- Jesse James Leija a HOF'er? No.
- Israel Vasquez for HOF? Close, but probably not. Loved watching him fight.
- Better multi-fight series: JMM-Pacquiao or Gatti-Ward? JMM-Pacquiao.
- Which fight is bigger: GGG-Canelo or Fury-Wilder? GGG-Canelo.
- GGG never turned down a Ward fight. There were never any real negotiations and Ward was hamstrung by his contractual issues.
- Spinks vs. Moorer at 175? Spinks by KO.
- Prime RJJ vs. Spinks at 175? RJJ.
- Provodnikov vs. Herrera 2 talks are dying down.
- Castellanos vs. Escandon will be on the Ortiz-Thompson undercard.
- Bigger disappointment: Seth Mitchell or David Price? Price. Mitchell was football player who got into boxing late. Price was a decorated amateur with an Olympic medal.
- Potential undercards for Thurman-Porter: Mares-Montiel (co-main), Edwin-Rodriguez-Thomas Williams, and GRJ-Hyland.
- If you think Danny Garcia is avoiding good fighters you are a moron. He fought Matthysse when he was the boogeyman and just last year fought Peterson.
- Favorite Mexican fighter: Ricardo Lopez or Marco Antonio Barrera.

Exactly my point. If canelo drops the belt There is no mega fight between the two and they miss out on the money. They know this fight will get over 1 million buys and if they sit on it a lil bit they will see a shit load of money. Out of good faith my ass. This is like the third or fourth straight step aside he's taking for sitting on his ass and fighting bums. He's collected like about $2 mill extra on step aside he loves that shit

Right, you say he's fighting bums as if that's his fault. If Canelo would man up we'd have a huge fight right now.

He got $800k from Cotto. Everyone wanted to see the Canelo Cotto fight so they didn't get in the way and at the same time got some money for allowing the belt to be on the line and that's the key here - Cotto paid Golovkin to fight Canelo for the title. We already knew Cotto wasn't going to fight Golovkin and we know for a fact he was willing to drop the belt since Cotto did just that three days before the Canelo fight. You can't blame Golovkin for these guys not fighting him.

At the end of the day the boxing world is getting exposed to Canelo and his diva ways by fighting in a made up weight division that only he fights at, cherry picking a glass jawed welterweight and cowardly ducking Golovkin. Most everyone realizes Golovkin would hurt Canelo which is why Canelo/Golden Boy are playing games and avoiding the fight, they aren't trying to "build the fight" they are trying to avoid it all together, hoping Golovkin will either lose or get so frustrated he leaves the division. It's sad that ducking is rewarded in boxing but the boxing gods usually have a way of making things right.

I love the "this is a business" people. Everyone knows it's a fucking business, there's literally no one that's followed boxing that is unaware that it's a business. The problem with that logic is that it's a sport/entertainment business. Pick any fighter you'd like and retire him right now and not only would the sport move on without him, eventually someone will take his place.

I've never bought the fact that fights to be built up for years for them to be successful. There's no doubt it my mind if you hold Canelo Vs. GGG tomorrow that it'll make similar money to holding Canelo Vs. GGG in 2018. The difference here is that if it manages to be a good fight the first time around you can bankroll that into a rematch etc etc.

These fights aren't being made to build anything up, they're not being made to protect fighters. The problem with doing shit like this is that it's difficult attracting people that don't watch the sport to something without structure. If you're somewhat into boxing who wants to take the time to learn every champion throughout 17 divisions + have to balance every SB ridiculous rules and stipulations, especially when they don't follow them themselves.

I'd also like to see a quote where GBP said they made the Khan fight @ 155 to make it seem like a mandatory.
