Report: SMU courting Mack Brown with eight-year, $32 million deal

Taking a cue from its Larry Brown-led basketball program, SMU is reportedly looking to see what another Brown can do for its football program.

According to The Dallas Morning News’ Bill Nichols, SMU officials have already had preliminary discussions with Mack Brown on an eight-year deal that would pay the former UT coach $4 million a year to rebuild the lowly Mustangs.

SMU is in search of a permanent replacement for June Jones, who stepped down following a 43-6 loss to North Texas on Sept. 6. The Mustangs are 0-6 this season.

Mack Brown, 63, is currently a college football studio analyst for ABC/ESPN. He resigned as head coach of the Longhorns after the 2013 season. During his 16 seasons in Austin, Brown posted a 158-48 record and led the team to 15 bowl games, two Big 12 titles and a national championship in 2005.

Marcus Peters just dismissed today by Chris Petersen for multiple issues this year. Peters was projected as a 2st round pick. Huskies will now have 2 true FR CB's, a true FR FS, and a SO at SS. Young much? Hundley might drop 400 yards on us.

Ugggggh.
