I, as a rapper from the Bay, don't think I can help the Bay. In fact, from the industry cats I've met, I don't think they can help me as long as I STAY in the Bay, and that's basically what I've been hearin' from these folks.

I don't mean any disrespect, because I love the Bay Area and I love how cats out here rep it. But, if I make it, it's gonna be because I don't have that Bay Sound, I never have since I started rapping, and I never will, it just isn't in my style, and I think that's going to help me get where I'm trying to go.

Also, as fucked up as it may sound, I'm a skinny ass Italian with a deep ass voice...my appearance and my voice contradict the fuck out of each other, they don't match whatsoever, and everybody asks, "How does that voice come out of YOU?". I can use that to my advantage, no doubt, because it's rare. Yea, they have Eminem out there, but he sounds as white as he is. Nobody knows it's ME until I say, "Yo, that's my shit". I have charisma, I have a magnetic personality, and I have talent. That will be why I make it.

just being a part of the movement and progression of bay music is good enough for me im really just tryin to bring as much unity as possible and at the same time make quality music i feel one artist or group cant do it alone so u will never hear a satment like im gonna bring the bay or the west back come out of my mouth u wont even hear me say yo im a tight rapper really i just stay humble i feel there is a lot of talent in the bay and the music will speak for itself i just want to be a part of the betterment of west coast music i think that the bay sound is one of the most diverse types of hip hop out there and i feel like we never really went no where we always been puttin out good music some may disagree but thats my opinion anyway to answer ur question wut i can bring to the bay is just support for these artists and the best possible music that i can give to the people and let the chips fall were they may pz

My take on this is unless you have the Bay sound these knuckleheads ain't buying your shit here in the Bay. Our album sold like hotcakes in Japan and Germany but here in the Bay we basically had to give them away or slang them for $5 a cd. We don't make Bay music we make rap music and we're going international in January with this next album fasho cause we hitting India with this.

I love Bay music...I will always MAKE Bay music...Sure, I probably ain't gonna be the next P-Diddy but atleast I won't be comprimising my sound and vibe for what's "hot"....Actually I think alot of the cats who are just tryin to sound like everyone else in the industry are wasting their time....However I DO experiment with making different kinds of tracks and never just settle for one sound....To me, that's what I and others who love this music of ours have to do....Not follow, but lead!

statistically speaking ONE rap artist or act will actually MAKE it big from the Bay in the next five years. Thats if you follow the trend of the E-40's, Baby Bash etc. Longevity is the key.

Im curious to see how many of the cats who last year said, "we're goona blow, watch", "wait til you hear our shit", or "We on another level" have actually done anything.

Im not hating I just think its hard for people to swallow the fact that...ITS PROBABLY NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Not because of talent, not because "the bay gets hated on" but because for every new Guerilla Black or whoever just got signed there are dozens, hundreds even thousands who never even have a decent "low-level career.

How many people really eat off of JUST RAP? I do. I know a handful of others. But there aren't as many as you think.

This shit has to be treated like a job and not a dream and then you can start making things materialize.

Just my 12 cents.

Peace

The bay is where it's at man. Speaking from experience, I been to alot of different regions on the grind of this music. I posted up in Houston, Tx for a second, just to see how they manouver out that way. It's not to much of a difference. So, when people start talking about how the bay ain't gone succeed, yall speaking besides yourself. Niggaz is out that way doing the same shit we do out here. The cost of living is alot cheaper tho, so the money stretches longer. They also SUPPORT their acts to the fullest. We live in one of the most expensive regions on earth. So, when cats understand the economics within a region, where do you think they go to make a living. The bay is a far extension of the general industry. When saying the, "GENERAL" industry meaning the cats who reside in the areas with major corporate backings to support their musical endeavors.. If you pay attention to the geological spectrum, the bay sits outside the general industry. We the home of the independents. But, trust that the bay is not out the game. It's gonna take all the artist out here to keep bridging the gaps. You got the ambassador E-40 spearheading the movement by connecting with LiL Jon for example. In the same reference, then we complain about San Quinn not being major. All it takes is for 40 to put Quinn on a track on his album distubuted by Lil Jons label and there goes the movement. That right there will chain effect all the others who are consistently making noise in the bay. Shit, I was just in the airport and met some reps from Universal Records who came out here to connect with Frontline. The rep told me they heard word from some connects at 94.9. There in the works of conducting business with Frontline. So, we not out the game 4sho. Now it's up to us to recognize our talents and support that... 2 all my bay artist keep grinding. Drop some good QUALITY music. THEY GONNA HAVE 2 RESPECT OUR GANGSTA. Good music speaks for itself... I'm out till the next topic...One...Check out our website..

you said all potna, its gonna happen with in the next years or so the bay is gonna blow, i mean blow hard. a lot of it to is because bay niggas are some real grimy ass fools still on the block, doin dirt, in and out of jail, just livin up to what they rap about and live, theres no gimicks. thats why majors a lot of the time dont look our way because there scared to do business with bay cats cause thats bad business, if they sign you and put all this money into you and then you go to jail or somthing then thats gonna fuck up they money, you feel me.
just my opinion. TREAL RECOGNIZE TREAL, GAME RECOGNIZE GAME!

everytime i read one of these threads i wonder, "what does it mean to make it?" In my eyes there are so many acts out of the bay that are household names all over cali and the midwestern states. Maybe that's not enough? I can understand the need for progression. Call me a hater, but i'd rather not see a bay video on mtv. At least not in heavy rotation like some of the vid's they have on there... i can appreciate the struggle of the indy artists. That's why i love supporting the music to the fullest. It's always some cool shit to put somebody you know up on some bay shit that's slappin'... then they give you this confused look like, "damn who's this and when did they come out?" Oh that's e-40, young droop, yukmouth etc.... they been doin this shit for years... when i lived on the east coast for a couple of years... i had cats from n.y. to g.a. on that northern cali shit.... and they were lovin' it... If you make a living off of your music and business alone... you've already made it in my eyes....
