who remembers when 106 kmel would always play bay area shit back in the 90's? then after a while that shit faded out and all you heard was 40 & too short. then somebody posted up on the siccness not too long ago. probably around a year ago... that clear channel was getting into a law suit or some shit. and the music selection was gonna change. all i know now is that shit worked. they hella play more bay shit now. you can be listening to the radio, hear 50 cent and then they mix the next song into some quinn or keak. shit is goin good for the bay on the radio now. the team, quinn, keak, easki, frontline, federation, balance, etc.. all gettin rotation these days.

I think you will notice that KMEL started playin more BAY musci when Big Von and I jumped over from WILD.. I could never figure why KMEL didnt play more bay shit...i remember that shit from back in the day too.. and I guess old KMEL managment just didnt see it that way... We do what we can now..I always try to include some BAY shit in every mix I do.. no law suits or any of that crap tho..no offense SCOCIOUS, but that just aint true..I play what I want..I dont really have a playlist for my mixes at 8pm..but at the same time,I cant go wild and just play everything BAY either..I gotta play all the "BET" joints and stuff that lotta people wanna hear...sucks, I know..but I try to stay true to my roots in the BAY... just tryin to Rep... check out ON THE BLOCK on KMEL Sunday Nights 11pm-1am...
too bad tho if you listen to the songs the bay got on the radio now, they aint even close to as good as the songs were back then. the bay shit they playin i been hearin, is just all right trax, nothin thats gonna make me buy the album.... no offense, i appreciate we even on the radio, but our best shit aint gettin played!

Scotty, I know you're doing what you can, but notice how the show that plays the most bay shit, gets put on a sunday at 11pm-1am. Thats pretty late man. It's far from a peak hour. All the true bay fans will tune in of course but the people that just flip the radio on at lunch or some shit will never hear the shit. What us bay fans want is for our fanbase to expand and playing the shit at 11 on a sunday night doesnt help that. I know this isnt something you can help but Im just making a point. Thanks for supporting the bay.
TACT OUT muzic... yo...ur right... but times change.. we try to select the best music for a wide selection of listeners.. we not always right, but hey... no every KMEL listener is askin for Bay Music... in fact, maybe only 20% of our requests, research etc is askin for Bay... BET has take over..unfortunately.. we get mad calls for Bow Wow and Chingy and some other crap.. and a few calls for Keak.. we try to do what we can, but we cant please everyone...

C Marsh/...yes..11pm is late... but for YEARS the WAKE-Up show ran at 10-Midnight, KMEL had the 10 Oclock Bomb, and many of the Mixshows run at night.. You gotta start somewhere... Even gettin this show on the air was tough enough.. If the suits dont see money in it, why are they gonna fuck wit it? feel me..just like hustlin...if theres no paper, whats the reason? but really, we startin out at 11,,the plan is to build a fanbase, get people talkin about it, then hopefully we can show the boos-man "Yo, streets is talkin...lets move up earlier".. feel me?
