What happens if you can't afford to pay a speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket and can't afford to pay it because I'm unemployed. I've read you can do work program or home detention and pay nothing? Does anyone have experience with this?

You can get community service. I believe they give you 10$ and hour, so if your speeding ticket is 270$, it'd be 27 hours. And home detention is expensive fuck that!

i got 8 speeding tickets in 2 years..i told them if i can do payments which was fine but every other ticket i got after the fourth i just kept adding it to my tab paying $50 a month..shit i owed the city 3 g's and paid it off the rest of what i owed with taxes..if i missed a payment they let me slide that month and pay $100 the next month...yea know a shit load of tickets..i slowed my roll tho..shit a cop blurpt me last year and was like dude u gotta choice either i can write you an expensive ass ticket or you can listen to what i gotta say for 5 minutes..nigga was giving a lecture about kids darting out in front of the street etc, but he said with my driving record any speeding ticket i get is gonna be over $1200..im suprised i still have my license..

it depends what city your in....cities have different fines and ways of paying....for instance, in Modesto, you have a year to pay your ticket or get your L's ganked....in Stockton, its not like that....

you need to be specific to the city.......

i got a ticket in november in stockton for 20 mph's over and no insurance.....the fine all together is 6 somethin. i got the same infractions in Modesto a week later and the fine is 1200 somethin......
