As you may know, mtvU has had a great track record in regards to helping launch developing artists into the next level. Through our emerging artist show The Freshman, we've been able to get a sense of what our viewers (the college students) have an affinity for in our ever changing musical landscape. As many of you know, every week, we showcase 5 new videos, and college kids come to our studio to sit in, watch and comment on then, generally hitting the nail on the head as to what is going to break out of the pack. Past freshman artists include Fall Out Boy, Kanye West, Matisyahu, Franz Ferdinand and much more. Generally, we like to give love to the artists that stand out from the mix, and those artists are typically the ones who "graduate" to the realm of stardom. Past freshman artists have been featured on our themed shows, co-hosting opportunities, tours and our spring break. All of that serves as a barometer sometimes for artists getting on MTV2 and MTV. Being the network for the students, and essentially by the students, we've decided to let the students help choose the next big thing! Starting Monday, July 17th, the freshman videos will go up for voting on a weekly basis, and the one with the highest votes will get an automatic add into rotation! Video can be made online via our website (www.mtvu.com ) and on select mobile devices. Every week a winner will be announced, and that winner will get a prime spot showcasing it's victory on the website, along with a direct add into video rotation with specialized graphics the following week. That being said, we are asking all of you to keep mtvU in mind when you have artists that may fit the criteria, and to keep us posted as to upcoming video submissions. We want to be a part of the entire story, so even if you are planning to submit a video, an MP3 of the song in advance would be great, jpegs, and of course press clips all help the cause. Your current label rep can help you with any questions and or comments that you may have. We thank you for your time and hope to receive all of your amazing material!

Hopefully if Tech gets on MTV or at least MTV2 he could help change mainstream rap but bringing in more of that underground sound jsut like E-40 and Three Six Mafia have done previously.

This is one of the first steps that us Indies must take to break into the current MTV programming structure. Your votes are incredibly important! The #1 video will get a slot on the everyday play list of MTVU and will then have a much greater chance in crossing over to MTV2. This is our chance to make a difference! Start voting!!!!!! Thanks. T. O.

Voting runs until Friday. So I'll be sure to vote many times a day until then.Tech's biggest competition is gonna come from one of those gay alternative bands and I'll puke if they beat him. Big Up Travis.

I'm gonna be voting for him for a good hour each day until friday. I look at this as one of the biggest opportunities for us the fans to help Tech (finally) get the recognition and props he deserves. I will be encouraging every single one of my friends to take 5 minutes of their time and vote for Tech like 10 times. We just gotta do our part and spread the virus, and I see good things happening.

Felt like a zombie doing it but I voted a good 20 times. What the fuck is MTVU though? Well now I know but never heard of it before until now. I seriously don't get how hard its been for Tech to get his deserved recognition.
