Rap Music is not just an art...its also a market. There can only be a certain number of rappers in the mainstream market that will sell a good deal of units, because there is only a limited demand for rap music.

In the last two years, we have seen rap exterminate itself. The "Bling Bling" era of rap brought a bunch of shitty lyrics with good beats, or even worse, sampled beats. Nothing much has changed from rap in 1997 with Puff Daddy and the Family to today's P Diddy or Jay Z. Rap sales continue to decrease because nothing new is hitting the mainstream but poorly sampled 2pac remakes.

For a good amount of time now, there has been an open door for any artist, whether bay area or otherwise, to bring something new to the table. A new sound, new topics, new concepts have been lacking and the rap industry has been waiting for something new.

But lately, I have noticed a good deal of up-to-par rap music hitting the radio waves. Take for example the new Mystikal, or the new Busta Rhymes. Eminem and Xzibit and Ludacris are also constantly elevating and renovating their music to elevate the game.

Shit like this kinda makes me think, has the bay area missed its golden oppurtunity??? We all know the firepower the bay had in the mid-1990's was something special but failed due to bad promotion and management as well as limited radio promotion. But, in my opinion, there are a lot of bay area rappers who are just as hot today (San Quinn, Mac Mall, Fully Loaded, AP9, Jacka, Yukmouth, even Nickatina still) but haven't taken advantage of the empty market. There is only a short time left before the oppurtunity to be recognized closes up with new popular artists before they do.

Cause you know there is other underground talent that is just a good as them (Techn9ne, Fatal) who are selling way more units.
