I was wondering why nobody posted about this before, this is in the news almost everyday here in Europe.

I don't know if you guys already heard about it. I asume you already did.

The Bush administration wants to build a rocket shield in eastern europe, really close to Russia.
Says it wants to protect the US by intercepting missiles that could be fired from either North Korea or Iran.
Russia does not believe this and does not want this to happen. So Putin now threathens that if the US continues with this plan to aim all nuclear missles that she got on Europe.

This is already the main topic on the G8 summit instead of global warming what was supposed to be the main topic.

I am wondering how are they talking about this in the US, on the news etc.. What will happen if next year both presidents will be replaced by new ones..

In America it gets covered as crazy Russian dictator on the rise wants to return the world to the cold war and prevent the U.S. from protecting itself (and western civilization) from terrorists who want to shoot nukes at us.

Here we get:

America wants to put up a rockets shield in former communist countries to protect itself from possible threads from North Korea and Iran.

This is the action.

Putin responds "Eventhough I know this could lead up to a new cold war, if America persists with these plans we will aim our nuclear missles on Europe"
Blaming the Bush administration (the they started it theory)

The reaction.

I hope these plans will not continue tho if only because they leave so much shit in the air when fired (I don't think at this point any will be fired on Europe, if they are actually being aimed)

I was wondering from most you guys if you had an American view point on this matter.. and what would possible happen if both presidents are replaced next year.

Most mainstream candidates in the U.S. are in favor of a “missile defense” shield. The name sounds too important to the safety of the American people to be against. There are major subsidies going into many different companies and industries in pursuit of this goal. Whether it is actually possible or not matters less than the money changing hands.

As I’ve said in previous posts “missile defense” is not a defensive system. It is offensive and virtually useless for combating countries such as Iran or North Korea. It is meant strictly for Russia.

Putin pulled a fast one on Bush at the G-8 by suggesting they put the radar in Azerbaijan. It was one of the better political moves to play out on the international stage in years. Brilliant!

Yea Putin is sharp these days

I also liked the fact that he said he will aim his missles on Europe if America persists. Eventho I live in Europe, it's a bald and daring statement I don't think he will let America mess around on soil near Russia without counter actions.

how the fuck is a missle defense system in europe gonna stop n.korean missles?
I was thinking the same thing.. It would be more efficient if NKorea fired it the other way.. but I don't think they will ever make it to the US with their current missle systems tho
