Rattay looked just as bad as he always has. The run game was whack as fuck. Frank Gore should easily be the premiere back. Barlow lacks explosiveness and never hits the right holes. The offensive line looked good at times and very bad at other times. The receiving core is quite dangerous.... Battle stepped up, Lloyd has always been good, I only saw one catch by Jonnie Morton but he is a threat nonetheless. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Eric Johnson gets in the mix as he is a very good receiving Tight End.

The defense on the other hand was raw.... 3 sacks by Bryant Young, 2.5 by Julian Peterson, and 7 sacks overall. The secondary looked great until later in the game, which is understandable because the fuckin offense had them out there for so damn long they had to be exhausted. Nolan runs the 3-4 very effectively. Not a whole lot of flaws on the 49ers Defense, which is what won them this game by the way.

The special teams looked great as well. Otis (Fred) Amey had a sick ass 75-yard punt return for a TD. They came up with good field position most of the time.

Overall the Niners looked a hell of a lot better than I was expecting. Mike Nolan is exactly what the franchise needed. The team is very disciplined and functions well as a unit, which was his intention. Although they will probably lose next week to Philly, I think the team is not a bad team at all.

when he fumbled their first play of the game i was pissed...but after that he had a good game...their o-line definitely has to step it up on the run blocking though cuz rattay cannot win games against every team with his arm.....they will need to score A LOT more points against the eagles next week and later in the season against the colts...

Quote from the gracious loser Torry Holt

"It goes to show that the best team doesn't always win," Holt said. "I think that we were the better team at times today, and the stats showed that we were the better team."

I was expecting something of that nature to happen with Rattay under center. Once he gets pressured he makes the most ignorant of mistakes. He should have taken the sack and been on with it. I'm not saying Alex Smith would have done anything differently, but something like that would be expected of a rookie. Rattay on the other hand has no excuse. Tim Rattay is garbage and will never lead the team anywhere. He's had his chance to develop and never came through. Any starting QB in the league can put up numbers like he did tonight. It was nothing special. They need to let Alex Smith get some experience and time to develop as an NFL quarterback. Starting Rattay is only hurting the team in the long run. Trust me.

It's not only the O-Line's run blocking, it's the RB himself. Barlow is also garbage and should not be San Fran's feature back. He is way too indecisive and like I said before he lacks explosiveness. He also doesn't have the speed to outrun defenders, nor the power to break their tackles, nor the agility to juke them.

The long term solution: start Alex Smith and Frank Gore. Obviously it will result in a few more losses this season, but will allow these two rookies to develop and progress, and with that will come a few more wins in seasons to come.

He's lost all respect in my eyes. I guess the most important stat of all was overlooked when he went over the stat sheet.... 28-25

ive always though alex smith should start...your right, rattay will never be a great QB...they are on the same level now, rattay has been playing a lot longer...smith would be good in 3 years if he started playing now

rattay is a piece of shit and so is barlow. i agree that gore and smith should be starting over those two clowns. the niners have a savage ass D and there is no debating that. on offense they got a tight receiving core but no qb or rb. the line didn't look that bad but not great.

I just wanna point out that the niners are now in first place...all alone atop the west. It's just 1 game but after last year, who would have thought we could ever be in first this year.

oh, and the raiders are in last

I just wish A. Smith didnt look so damn lost during the Pre season dude was playing like he never played before until that last preseason game.. But I been telling fools out here in COLORADO that my niners were so injury ravaged last year both corners, an offensive line was practially off kilter plus our best defensive player was out shit there was no repeat of last year this year. Plus we play St. Louis always tuff in Frisco.

89 plays should get the job done but scoring in the red zone with that offense should be second nature big ups to the niners defense for holding them to mainly FG's...

he actually made some decent passes this sunday i wouldnt say he sucks ass. reason he's looked so shitty as a qb since garcia left is because of the oline. niners oline been shitty for a while you give any average qb some time and he'll make some passes. some of yall is goofy about the game of football talkin out your asses.

For real. Ratty is a decent qb he isnt the best but hes decent. With a good oline he can have big games. Hes qb rating was 141 this weekend to me thats damn good. 11 for 15 how can these clowns say he sucks. Barlow i cant defend he hasnt show shit so far, so hes on the short leash for everyone. Hopefully all goes well this weekend and they take out the eagles.

With a good O-Line almost ANYONE (including your average Joe) can have big games. If you can lob the ball in the direction of an open receiver you can have a great day on the field. No DB can cover any decent WR long enough to shut you down when you have all day to throw it.

Clowns?

Listen up.... As a lifetime 49er fan I can honestly tell you Tim Rattay SUCKS BALLS. Fuck his QB rating for ONE GAME. Fuck 11 for 15.... Stats are very misleading at times. Did you happen to see the goddamn fumble on their opening drive? That was the dumbest thing that fuckin idiot could have possibly done, and he did it. Did you happen to notice he couldn't keep the damn offense on the field to help rest the D for shit? Aside from that, let me break it down for you two who think you know more than you do.... He has no mobility, his vision is very poor (he lucks out when he locks on to a receiver that ends up getting open), he's slow, he doesn't have great arm strength, his awareness is poor, and he folds under pressure, but overall he just does not have what it takes to lead a team to the big game and that's what every single season is about. So for those of you who actually think this clown is a decent QB I have just one word for you: PLEASE!!
