Well guys, it's the first day of Football season. So naturally, Im going to talk about basketball. I just signed up on NBA.com for the Fantasy basketball league they have going on and my 'draft' is going to be Tuesday night at 1:00am, simply because random number generators are assholes and I have class in the morning.

So I was just wondering...

who else fucks with this?

and who do you think are the top 5-10 players I should always consider for my team each week?

who's going to surprise?

which rookie is going to shine?

yeah, just talk about it. Of course Im going to try and fuck with Chauncy Billups each week; maybe Rip Hamilton and/or Tayshaun Prince, but other than that I want to know who ya'll think are going to have great seasons.

Personally... Im looking at Steve Nash and the Suns to get into the Semi-Finals if not the Finals next summer. They picked up Grant Hill who this past season has put up good consistent numbers from the bench for Orlando, and after that series against S.A. Im lookin at them boys to have fire in their eyes. So it's said and done: Im rooting for Detroit in the EAST and Phoenix in the West.

I'll try to focus on lesser known impact guys. Everybody knows who the obvious pick ups are.

Zach Randolph (fresh off a career year) should have another career year since now he's in the East. Look for his points and rebounds to go up a little from last year.

KG, Pierce and Allen are probably guys to stay away from. There's only one ball. Look for all their numbers to dip a little aside from KGs rebounding.

I expect to see Kevin Martin to establish himself as a top player in the league this year. He always makes the most of his opportunities when he gets them, and his role should be increased this year after 2 seasons where he continues to show improvement.

Maybe I'm being a bit homerish, but I expect LaMarcus Aldridge to surprise a lot of people this year. With Z-Bo officially out of his way, he'll be the starting PF for the Blazers and should get around 25-35 minutes a game. Unlike last year, he's at 100%. Combine that with Oden being in town to set picks and keep the D honest and you got a guy ready to make his name known. He should be a great sleeper pick up.

Deron Williams is probably going to be one of the safer picks in the league as he is emerging as possibly the best young PG out there.

I know they're both rooks, but Durant and Jeff Green should be good picks as they'll be the focal points of their offense. Durant is already a star and Jeff Green is probably the most NBA ready player of the draft class.

Anybody on the Suns is probably going to be at least a decent pick up as long as its not Pat Burke.

Expect at least one of the young players traded to Minnesota to break out this year as there is nothing set in stone as far as their offensive scheme. Al Jefferson could very likely be that guy, however it could be a great year for Gerald Green. Randy Foye could emerge as the guy for them as well. He was one of the guys considered a ROY candidate last year and should take a more significant role this year with the offensive ability he displayed last year.

Andre Igoudala is almost guaranteed to have a career year as he is now the star of the team with AI gone. He should increase his scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks this year.

And finally, we should also be prepared for a return to form in Chris Paul. Some people thought he was a one season wonder last year, due to him dealing with nagging injuries most of the season. Now healthy, he might take his crown back from Deron Williams as top young PG.

thats all I can think of for now

^^ Agree with him about everything. Avoid the 3 main guys on Celtics as theres only 1 ball, Allen and Pierce will spilt points. Garnett wouldn't be a bad choice rebound wise though.
