I was at guitar center today and they had this little mini MPC there 12 pads real streamlined versian of the MP. I guess they are the only one who has it right now i don't think alot of people are gonna fuck with it though cuz it was like 700 or 800 bucks. You can find the 1000 if you look hard for the same price. From what I saw it had one midi in one midi out one audio in one audio out

Yeah I don't know if I really need an MP but am still thinking about snatching one anyways . I fucked around with the 2500 and the 1000 for a little bit but theres so much you can do with one if you never fucked with it without the manual. I like the pieces sound but it seems like it might take me a minute to actually do anything with it. the 1000s pads are hella small I'm not feeling that, i guess i'd have to go all out and get the 2500 and do it right.

What would yall suggest for a guy who has grown tired of doing beats on the computer? I'm thinking the MPC 2500 1000 or the Roland MV8000 or maybe save a little cash for the MPC2000 but the 2000 seems lacking on features. I don't really have that kind of money though still might do it cuz any of em would be fun and cool to have. I might get a keyboard or a module or something and just go the software route till i can afford the crown jewel piece like the MPC maybe not. What do you think? I've made the same kind of thread hella times lol but fuck it.

I agree that the 500 at that pricee would be a bad move, since the 1000 is far superior at about the same price, especially with that new OS for the 1K that introduces a chopper/slicer into the game..

The only thing the 500 has over the 1000 (as far as I can tell) is that you can throw batteries up in it. yeah, that *sounds* hella tight, but how useful would it really be unless you're playing on the street also with battery powered PA or some shit..

I wouldnt get the 1000 or 500...or 2000xl....or 60...Its between the 2500...the 3000(i have this one) and the 4000.If you need features dont get the 3000..however it hasnt limited dr dre,battlecat,hi-tek.....Its simple and sounds good, and has 4 midi outs wich is important to me.Ive thought of trading my3000 and motif rack for a 4000 if anyone was interested....mine has the internal zip upgraded...and candy red paint with wood sides.....I might even throw in my jp8000. Its not necessarry for me to get rid of the 3000 and i might not even need the extra features of the 4000..but I will always use the mpc so with the 4000 I can call it quits as far as wanting another sequencer...then I can concentrate on sounds
...wich brings me to why is everyone so fascinated with the triton/motif/fantom.........Great boards...but what about a yamaha vl70?...a korg wavestation..yamaha fs1r...of course an Studio electronics Atc..a SE1....cant go wrong with the proteus2000...there is alot out there

I think i might need to snag up a key board/ module and a turntable and some vinyl before getting an MPC. If I get one I think I'd love that 2500 though, its got everything you need that thing is a monster. I just hope its easy to learn how to use, i just pounded with the pads and fiddled with the buttons. Didn't get really far in the time i was in the store lol. Then again some people think reason is hard to leard and I know that program like the back of my hand. I'm sure with the manual I'll get the ins and outs of it in no time. That 2500 sure is fuckin cool, i want it. i think thats where my tax refund will go to if they give me that much. 2 grand plus tax is alot of money for something like this, I know cats who don't have cars worth that much!

Fuck that I'm getting one of those bitches. I'll probably get some modules and keyboards and a turntable first though so I have a little something to work with. If I was to get an MPC now all I'd have is its stock kits and samples from my computer, I wouldn't get the best out of the machine. I'd have to get a 2500 though, it just blows the rest of the cheaper models away.

you can find mpc4000 used for about 1500-1700......this and a midi controller and a proteus2000 or roland 1080 wich both go for under 200 you all in the game for under 2000

If anyone here runs across a RS7000 hit me up.
rasan plans on getting rid of his...I got rid of mine a few years back...its cool especially for the low prices they go for now.....Ive seen them go under 400...I paid 1500 brand new....Im just not a fan of all in one boxes..however this was pretty tight...i used to run my tape deck through it and run the master eefects on it....and speaking of effects there is no shortage of that in there...

I wish I could find a 4000 for that price but havn't seen one in that range. If I was to buy something like that it would be on credit as well. I've seen 2500s as low as 1600 for warehouse resealed and display models. See I really want to get a feel of how the MPCs sequencer operates but can never get a guitar center guy to give me a real extensive demo. This is my true final thing i need to see to base my final decision on if i truly need one of these. Right now I just love the feel of the pads and the sheer sexyness of the machine and its sound. I wanna see if it ties into my workflow which I'm still skeptical about. I just can't see how an audio interface with a couple midi ins and outs and pro tools and a sampler VST wouldn't work and sound as good. Plus thr guitar center guy said I can't run VSTs into the thing very easily, is this true?

Funny enough the controller I want has pads on it already LOL that Axium49. I trust M-Audio gear. I've had my old midiman controller for 3 years and its all dusty and shit and still works like a champ. My Korg pad kontrol already has a pad that doesn't work and i've only had it for like 8 months, i hate that POS i wish i never bought it the trigger finger would have been a far better choice as far of feel and durability goes

thats good to know.
people were sayin good things about the pad kontrol but i didnt trust it for some reason.
i have a trigger finger, its alright but i think i like the feel of the mpd16 better.
the pads on the trigger finger arent as responsive but the drivers and support for the mpd16 fucking suck.
might try out a mpd24 tho.

the pad kontrol is hella feature happy but that thing is a cheap piece of crap. The trigger finger is at least nice and durable and the pads feel better the korgs pads are stiff and not fun to bang at all. I never tried the AKAI versians but they look cool i'd get the mpd 24 if i didn't have my heart set one one of the big dogs

The MPC 500 will flop in my opinion and will probably go for 500-600 bucks after a minute. the 1000 just has alot more for not much more money

I'm still usin the ol' tried and true 12 bit EMU SP-1200. It has to be the most limited of the drum machines with very lil sample time and no compatibility with todays computers other than midi, but the drums thump harder than all the other drum machines in my opinon. Plus it's probably been responsible for more classic Hip Hop tracks than any other machinery ever made (Outside of the MPC60 and 2000).

I'm gonna retire my SP-1200 after this year and get the MPC2500, not for the sequencer, but because the sampler is easier to use than the Triton Rack. I'm gonna use it strictly as a drum machine, and sampler. I'll stick to sequencing throug my computer. Cubase has been my choice since 1992, so I've grown with it as it has evolved into what it is today.

I got Reason and don't even mess with it. I got Hardware modules, but once I have time to sit down and mess with it, I'll have the best of both worlds since I'm never selling my modules. If your computer crashes, so does your software modules, fuck that.

good post, but your SP-1200 is 12-bit, not 16-bit.

I'm also hoping some hot new gear will help me get out of my slump lol, I ve had writers block i made my last especially good one to my standards like a month ago HAHA. Nothing sounds good to me right now whenever i make synthisized beats they aren't at my best. My last hard beat had a sample in it but sampling and cutting up shit when you use reason is a pain in the ass, I want something that you don't have to use a work around method to sample. I heard the flow of those things change your style when you really get into the ins and outs of it.
