106.1 USED TO SUCK JAY-Z DICK, not to mention LUDACRIS, 50, SNOOP, JUVENILE, DMX, BUSTA RHYMES, MISSY ELLIOT, Mystical ,LIL JOHN, DRE, CUBE, ETC.
They did'nt give bay rappers no love until Mac Dre died. Now all of a sudden it's bay areaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Why did it take until 2005 to get local love?
Wheres the contest's and the fuckin win a promotional tour with the fuckin hummer?
Where's the best in the bay video show or demo tape airplay?
They support you in the south all day long on the radio.
What are your thoughts?

Because it wasn't really until very recently that Bay artists were putting out radio friendly songs...but the ones that they did, for example, Rappers Ball, Sprinkle Me, etc. got radio play.

I don't even think The Bay was full blown in The Bay until a couple years ago...Bay Area rap was labeled 'underground' for the most part even here in The Bay.

well really, a few years back 92.7 "the party" went out of business and somebody picked up 92.7 and made it into a hiphop/rap radio station with no commercials or anything (so clearchannel wasn't censoring the music being played on the station). they played a bunch of bay hip hop, the team was getting played, frontline, that's where 16's with me, ya boy, first got radio run... then when people started listening to 92.7 instead of 94.9 and 106, kmel and 94.9 started getting the ok to play bay rap... it all happened pretty quick and then people were requesting bay shit on the kmel and it just took off.... also big von played a big role in getting a lot of songs on the radio

^^^^^
but basically bay rap wasnt getting played because it wasn't getting ok'd from the radio big wigs and clearchannel until they started to notice their numbers dropping with the rise of 92.7

92.7 eventually went off the air all together (i think it's house music again now)

but it def played a major role in getting all this shit to the forefront

what the fuck?

first of all, your facts are way off. they started playing bay shit in 2003 around the time the feds came out with hyphy... second of all, if you still need to ask why the radio didn't show any bay artists love until 2003, its because bay area rap sucked a FAT DICK (with an exception of a VERY few albums) between 1999-2002.

question answered.

C'MON NOW- YOU CALL ONE SONG IN 2003 LOVE?
That shit was unacceptable.
And yuck dropped his first double album around 1999-2000, a bay classic.
My question is far from answered.I want everybody to post what classic bay shit should have got radio play around 1999-2002

no, thugged out dropped in 1998... regardless of that, he's considered one of the few exceptions

and as far as KMEL only playing one bay song... you have to start somewhere. you just can't come out of left field and make half of your rotation bay area shit all of a sudden. and your question IS answered... bay area rap sucked dick in those given years, and there was *NO* significant following for bay area rap amongst the mainstream crowd... i can't recall one song from that time period that was as marketable as "Hyphy" was, classic or not.

be happy they're playing bay area shit now. because thats all that matters
