I honestly think you should get yourself a good bread and butter type synth (like the two above) and then a good analog style synth in order to make westcoast music. The above two synths probably won't cut it when coming to synth leads or basses.

What I mean by analog style is either a virutal analog (a digital emulation) or the real deal. Some decent ones are the Access Virus series, Nord Lead series, Minimoog, Juno106, even Roland jd800.

you can do erry thing the old analog synths can do if you know how to work the oscillators the right way... tritons presets are indeed bullshit, but you gotta look past that and start from scratch sometimes,,
