now i might get killed on this one but the real is th real.

i don't know what yall think bout jayz but here's my 2 cents.
jayz is to me what an true emcee is, now take away the commercial shit and deal wit tha real concept of hip-hop. every day i here a jayz hater and it makes me st back and wonder,is it hate cuz he new york or is it hate cuz he on top, or is it hate he got a real bad on his sleeve? now i will be the first one to say that i live and die for the bay but tha nigga is nice wit his.go back a few years to the first album he put out on rocafella" reasonable doubt" if you havent heard that one then your mising out on some real wordplay. now i know when some of you read this i'ma hear aw nigga get off his dick! the nigga has put it down consistantly for what 7 or 8 years who can argue wit that kind of staying power. i jus thougt i'd let yall know bout tha jigga man....

Sure, Tec, I feel what you're saying. The main thing about Jay-Z that's changed over the years is his SUBJECT MATTER--he does more songs about having money and about material shit than he used to. I think THAT's the problem some people have w/ him nowadays. But yeah, his basic rapping style (if you listen closely) is still the same. It's really a matter of what this-or-that person wants to hear subject-wise. Personally, my favorite Jigga joints are his first three CDs (REASONABLE DOUBT, IN MY LIFETIME and HARD-KNOCKED LIFE), but THE BLUEPRINT (#1) and his newest one have some nice cuts as well...

PEACE!

I respect him for what he does. but there are plenty of other TRUE MC's. To me He is nothing speacil..boring flow...just never felt him only on reasonable doubt..even then he was boring, not only that he dissin the west... i just don't get why people think this dude is a gift from the Rap God

Jay Z has heat, I just don't really jock the commercial shit. If you can snag the Black Gangster Soundtrack, its a soundtrack for a book by Donald Goines Jay Z has a hard ass track on there so does DMX and Ja Rule (yes Ja Rule)

Reasonable Doubt
Vol 2
Vol 3
and the Blueprint all have tight tracks so does the Dynasty

Nas still killed jigga on Ether though!

I feel the same way. I'm happy that he's doing it big but I've never understood why so many folks thinks his lyrics are so DEEP!!! As far as a rapper there is nothing special about him at all. He has that arrogant sway of a superstar but so do a thousand other rappers. PAC is the standard and JAY Z is wwwaaayyy behind.

jay iz tight...i'll bump his shit and most of the old shit iz classic, but he too cocky now and evn though he made allot of hits, he aint in the column as "one of the best" or "the best rapper alive" as he would like to refer to himself......peep the new on the block cd and see what they did to him...shits funny
