I was just taking a listen to Syde Akts battle I read the beat he flowed over was from a new E-40 track..
My question is how can ya'll like that shit? What do ya'll like so much about it. I mean its all opinions but damn too me this shit is so damn wack these days. How hard is to make a 100 bpm beat with a bunch of stupid sound effects coming in and out. What kinda feel do you people get off it? I listen to music to FEEL it...feel the emotions, and real get lost to. But this shit has no feeling so how can ya'll actually feel it. How do these new tracks compare to old school 40 classics like "Captain Save em", "Sprinkle Me", "1 Luv" etc.. Im not saying that they should take a step back 8 years and try to remake an outdated style but how hard is it to come up with something original and QUALITY. This new shit aint quality. I could make a better beat on a casio if I were blind and deaf..I just cant help but hate on this garbage...This isnt just about the new E-40 track but alot of new stuff coming out...
Gimme your thoughts

Dogg Ive made many beats that are 10x's better in my opinion..Not tryna get all conceited but I dont even consider that Gasoline beat music...its just a fast paced rhythm with sound effects...Just like most other mainstream beats

This is music..by yours truly..

I agree. I've been sayin' it for a while, a lot of what people say are dope beats these days are garbage. There's no feeling, no complete and full tracks. That "Gasoline" track is way too empty (too sparse, a lot of blank space in it) to me and I've noticed that way too much in the past few years.

Go back and listen to "Fed" or "Da Bumble" and then honestly tell me that "Gasoline" is a hotter beat. I don't care if I'm livin' in the past, production in the Bay is worse now than it was back in the day. There are exceptions, but overall, I'd rather hear Bay albums from 94-97.

Oh man Doxx, its hard to compare anything to the shit back in the day. The release date of that 40 cd...I remember when I heard "da bummble"... it was crazy!!! And i still have that reaction everytime i hear it.

That's my point exactly.

How often do you get that feeling with the Bay in the past few years? Honestly. I can probably count on one hand myself.

How much recent stuff has that longevity that gives you the same reaction every single time you hear it? I just played a short ass snippet of "Fed" on tower.com and I damn near flipped out. That's how good shit used to sound.

And no one can call me a hater or a non-supporter of the Bay. I'm just callin' it how I hear it.

How many artists were really that successful back then? They must not have been doing that well if they're all trying to do something new now...

I guarantee there was more money being made by more people back then. I was there to see it. That was the Bay's heyday. We had poppin' indy labels and we had a large number of our artists on major labels during that time 'cause our sound was solid and people dug it. Why everyone switched up, I'll never know.

Don't get me wrong... I'm all for trying new shit and evolving as artists. I do have a problem when that evolution is for the worse. And overall, our music has gone downhill (with some exceptions).

You talking about bay artists? Alot were more successful then than now...Just look at the Luniz, 3x Krazy, Richie Rich, N2deep etc.
Trying something new? Whats new? To me it sounds like every other wack ass mainstream song out there..whats new about that? Only few artists/producers these days are willing to experiment..

I think Rap Has "GONE TO HELL" if you ask me....

E-40 Used to be my favorite rapper.........I can't stand him anymore! He comes on the radio and I change it right away!

His rapping style has gone from innovating to garbage!

Let's not mention that wack ass shit they call music that he raps
over!!! My 9 year old daughter can make better shit!PERIOD!

But maybe I've just outgrown rap music??

I'm sure when I first was listening to rap there was folks saying
that this new breed of music was weak.....shit.......

they was bumpin The fat Boys and Kwame!

I said it before and Ill say it again, I love 40 but he is well past his prime. The beat for Gasoline is tight in my opinion. Rick Rock got beats for days! The chorus and the concept Gasoline sound real tight too, but 40's actual flows are halfway decent you know what I mean? I wouldnt blame the beat at all. The beat is hard as all shit. If you replaced E-40 with San Quinn on that track the bay would be in business, cause Quinn really spits gasoline, 40 spits water compared to Quinndo. I wouldnt blame the beat though, 99% of artists on this board would sell their soul to get their hands on that! But Im gonna peep your shit out, see what your all about...

Hey Evidenc3,

That beat is actually pretty solid! I would say its better than gasoline but it sounds very professional. Are you working with anyone or just producing for fun?

Thats the dumbest shit ever...why should I have to get high to feel the music...
And pushing E-40 to mainstream is a big waste of time..he will never be excepted on the eastcoast..and if he does make it..good for him

I know exactly what 40 is tryin' to do. The point is it isn't working. He's been real experimental with his beats after In A Major Way. But what has been his biggest seller? In A Major Way!!! He switched up after he made a damn near perfect album. And the major major sales (which would be the justification for switching up so drastically) have never materialized.

That beat was pretty good for a blind and deaf guy on a casio...

If artist start making more music like Khayree just did on Young Lay and Mac Dre remix cds THAT would be nice......
