The part about the firearm has nothing to do with my point (felons cant have a firearm), I was only speaking on the voting aspect. And again, if you are a convicted felon thats not on parole, or imprisoned you can vote. This is why I posted this because I didnt even know, until I read it for myself yesturday. For those that want to vote this is who we post this thread for...

here is my 2 cents.

If we are talking about voting like for the president of the US.

Dont bother. Your single vote wont count.

McGriff feel me on this one. Im assuming we are voting against bush right?
right.

so if we go vote democrat it dont matter if 20 million votes or 21 million votes. What matters is which is more.

Your vote does not matter and here is why. California is a blue state and always will be. It dont matter if red people try getting all the votes, when it comes to Presidential votes, democrats in California will always have more.

Thus my point, it doesnt matter. All that matters is California's electorial vote which is worth X amount of points and wont vary depending on votes.

Back to you McGriff.

Other states are able to as well. Blacks being ignorant to this fact... thats whats effecting the Black vote, Hispanic vote you know. We the two races with the most in the prisons, so that shuts our vote out if we dont know this fact, well now we do.

Despite California being a blue state, it shouldn't discount the fact that people should still get out and learn about the issues and politics that surround them and get out vote. There are not enough people who take advantage of the right to vote, whereas for the past decades people would have killed to have had the right to vote, now people are just taking it for granted.

The electoral college is a stupid system which doesn't make any sense. It should be as simple as whoever gets the most votes, wins.

And on Convicted felons being able to vote...whats the point? A majority of them are uneducated anyways and chances are they have no idea what or who they are voting for.

Im a convicted felon. Im taking the time to eductae myself and let other convicted felons know the deal. And as for us having no idea, man you have no idea how many cats in prison are up on politics. We have no other choice but to pass the time in books learning. Now there are those who pass time in drugs gangs etc, but when i was down we was knocking out college degrees.

the real issue isn't voting for the president. most times he is just a puppet. the real issue is voting for what will directly affect you, like the various state propositions. things like the three strikes law & the medical marijuana inititive had shit to do with the presidency....its just the state propisitions....educating yourself on every issue isn't an easy task, but aligning yourself with a political party that supports your views is very helpful, they give you rundowns of every propisition & whatnot

Thats good to hear, thats the type of prison reform that should be happening. The prison system here is apparently suppose to "reform" criminals into changing their life around but its almost impossible for that to happen with how the criminal and prison system is set up. So in turn, chances are if you've been convicted once, you'll end up going back behind bars again. I have the upmost respect for people who can turn their life around and educate themselves and take a positive role in society.
