Damn that's one hell of an idea.....buy one, then take the broken one back and say it didn't work??? GENIUS.....I did that once with seat covers in my old car....I burned one of the seat covers so I went and bought the same exact ones and switched em out and then took them back and said they didn't fit...LOL....classic....
I had the same problem, heres what I did...
OK, my PS2 was doing the exact same thing. Every time I would try to play a game it would read "disc read error." Like you, I had to reset it about 20 times b4 it started to work......Dont ask me why but my lil' bro said that if you turn the PS2 on its side, it wont have trouble reading the games n shit......Well, lo and behold I turned the PS2 on its side, and then put in a game, and I have not seen the "disc read error" message since then......So instead of setting your station flat like its sposed to be, try turning it on its side and then put in the game and see if that works.

^^Yea try that....i haven't got that disc read error ever i don't think
but i have had problems with certain games....those blue-bottom ones...the games that aren't dvds...i put it in an it makes that grinding sound or whatever the fuck....man i got sick of it an beat the shit outta my ps2 cuz it wouldn't play "the thing"...but all my shit still works even after that abuse lol it'll take a second before it reads it..but it still works pretty good :dead:
