A few questions for those of you who coach(ed) and/or play(ed) the D-Line at any level. Do you prefer the 3 pt. stance or 4 pt. stance? Gap or head up alignment? What defensive formation do you like?

I've been using the Gap Air Mirror so far this season with great results. 4 pt. stance bear crawlers in the gaps have frusterated the opposing coaches so far this season, lol. I'm thinking of experimenting with the 4-6 Gambler next year....

Me personally I'd prefer a 3 points stance... then switch up to the 4 point stance in goal line situations.

Gaps would be cool but it takes real discipline... because if someone leaves their gaps that's when cut back lanes open up for running backs.

Very true! It all depends on what "D" your running for each situation. Gap 8 is for goal line situations, although there has been very successful programs who have ran 10-1 (Gap 8) on the whole field. I know Coach G.M. Moore down in Celina, Texas mastered the 10-1. When Della Salle went on that winning streak, they were using a similiar philosophy.....
