After peeping the Christmas Album thread in here, me and my girl got into a debate over the grench. Ive never really considered the song a "Christmas" song, although her points were semi valid. Is the Ho Ho Ho in the background, and the title enough to tie it to The Grinch?

uh.. no. Do you hear anything about christmas in the song? And did you actually have a debate about this with your girlfriend? The ho ho ho in the beginning sounds nothing like a christmas ho ho ho.more like kaliko just buggin out on an intro.

A song is whatever you want it to be. Its all a matter of opinion.

The same way that you could say that a song isn't a "summer song" or a "love song" could remind you, or bring you back to a point that makes you associate with that time period. It may not be a christmas song, but if you played it all season this year, and then played it in 4 months, it'd probably evolve into a christmas song in your mind. Feel me?

So No, but... Yes.

ppl spend time bashin on em and dont realize.
its obvious a mockery of the grinch, cause the grinch was always in a "mad!fuck everythin" mood. so it has play in the song

I don't think so...

Using the "image" of The Grinch and naming the song The Grench was more symbolic. When we think of The Grinch someone who's mean, hateful, evil, etc. He's simply using it in a non-holiday context.

Merry Muthafuckin Christmas by Eazy-E = Christmas song.

The Grench by Tech = Channukka song.

End of debate. I always thought that was quite obvious.
