Probably because there is no dictatorship nor would there have been.

No one is talking about the Russian election either.

Every vote held in Venezuela since Chavez was elected has been certified fair by national and international election officials/monitors. Strange the same can't be said for the U.S. in the same time span.

You're a sucka Philip

why am i sucka? chavez wanted to eliminate any and all possibility of him leaving office and the people rejected it. normally he has a high percentage of the populations support but not to give him DICTATORSHIP powers. which is exactly what he was seeking.

If he was a dictator he wouldn't have let the people vote on that issue on the first place.
End of story.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the reform to abolish term limits for the presidency? Which means he could have been voted into power indefinitely but it doesn't mean he would serve as president for life. Fucking media for twisting the facts and you idiots for not bothering to read.

Sounds to me like the majority of Venezuelans said "Fuck Chavez" loud and clear. Probably because he was too much of a grandstanding, red leftist that didn't do much for them or their economy. Other than sucking Fidel Castro's balls and talking out of turn during international meetings, he didn't do much.

Thats too bad. Some of the changes would have included a shortened working day - 6 hours - and the establishment of a social security system for the millions of Venezuelans. Of course, the central focus was on the increased power for Chavez. But, the simple fact that Venezuelans got the opportunity to vote, and the constitutional reform failed, proves that there is no dictatorship in Venezuela and this is the truest democracy Venezuela has seen in hundreds of years.

Of course, there was a huge campaign, led by the wealthier sections of society, the Catholic church and the right-wing media, to spread propaganda and disinformation about the reforms, which turned out to be pretty effective. And not suprisingly, the US Government helped finance the opposition, as reported by the Washington Post. See Operation Pliers

The bad thing about this is this defeat will certainly embolden the Chavez opposition, who if ever are in power again, will without a doubt oppress the citizens of Venezuela once again.
