Yea like I said I dont trip off this catchweight because catchweight fights have been made time and time again. Just how it is. Also I still think that Floyd only said all that shit about Cotto is to get under Manny's skin for fighting him at a catchweight. Regardless until boxing changes it we will always have catchweight fights. Just how it is. For the most part I dont think catchweight fights make people lose, its more of an excuse. While I thought Cotto was a bit drained versus Pac, I still dont think even at 147 that he wouldve beat Pac. I just wanted a rematch after Cotto beat Margarito at 147 because I think his head was in a better place after avenging that defeat. Oh well. Got Em!!

Im not talking about catchweights and I never will since they are part of the sport and both parties agree to it. What I am saying is Floyd needs to make sure Showtime gets their money so he can get more money if not he will look stupid at the end. Imagine if he fights on another night without a big mexican fighter at least as an undercard, how will those numbers continue to look? Or if he got stripped off the WBA title for not defending it? So much is riding on his reputation right now that in the upcoming years will he bring in his part of the whole deal with shosprts? I don't compare him to Manny, but Floyd does. Manny is and TR are expecting to bring in huge numbers on their next ppv, so Floyd has to do this fight in all aspects for his brand. The catchweight isn't an issue, it's the fact that he wasn't going to want to fight Canelo, but Canelo agreed anyways. So that's why I say he's scared

If Canelo wins tho, I do believe a Mayweather Pacman fight will come to life. I do see this happening cuz the relationship betwwen Floyd and Goldenboy will be strained bigtime.

Boxrec be pissin me off and isn't showing the weights. I couldn't remember. I lived in NY when that fight happened and NO ONE wanted to watch it with me so I paid the $60 to watch it and the first undercard fight put me to sleep. I woke up as the first round was starting. I would've been BEYOND pissed off if I slept through the main event after paying for that crap by myself lol

CZAR @CZAR I didn't say he was scared of Canelo. He said it himself beforehand that Canelo doesn't deserve the fight, so why now? He's scared of not doing his part of his shosprts contract and his reputation of making big fights. His back was against the wall on this one.

I dont care what u think he is scared of. The fact is the fight is taking place and people didnt think he would take the fight and he did. Doesnt matter why he took it, the fact is he took it. Luckily Canelo isnt with TR or it wouldve have happened. Got Em!!

Battle, it comes down to options. Canelo is the best option for Floyd right now and the fans want it.

If not Canelo the options aren't really attractive. You got Khan who looked like trash, Alexander who while a good fighter people just don't like watching him fight and that's about it since Garcia and Matthysse are fighting next.

Floyd shouldn't be critised here at all. This is a fight people want, it's a big fight and some people truly feel Canelo is a big threat to Floyd. Everyone wins with this fight.

I didn't think that the DLH/BHOP fight was at a catchweight. It was at 160 if I'm not mistaken but DLH chose to come in at 155 instead of trying to add the weight since it didn't work against Sturm and he was fat
Of course you didn't know it was at a catchweight because catchweights don't matter for Chavez, Sugar Ray, Oscar, or Manny. It's only an issues when Mayweather uses one at 36 years old against a guy that was 172lb on fight night. The other catchweight fighters are called warriors and legends. Lol. Double standards at its finest. And I don't like the catchweight but I understand it Mayweather was 148lb at the 30-day weigh-in for his last fight.

A catchweight is a catchweight.
Cruisers go up to heavy all the time, they don't ask for catch weights. So you can't say the weight difference is too much. Going from 200 to 240 is much bigger than Canelo packing on an extra 10.

Who cares if Mayweather is 36. Hopkins is 48!
Hopkins doesn't ask for catchweights. So you can't say age is a factor.

Just because it's Floyd you seem to somehow justify it.
I give him insane credit for even taking a fight like this. I thought it would happen, but not this soon. Maybe his last fight. Still though, to try to give reasons on why it's OK (when both you and I have always bashed catchweights) is a little much...

Yeah, ask Steve Cunningham about how he feels about catchweights. Or Evander Holyfield etc... Catchweights are the faggotest thing in boxing to me regardless of who does it with the small exception when the dudes are still prospects trying to hold down a full time job AND box on the side until their career jumps off, the types of dudes that are on FNF or Shobox. They have every reason to get a catchweight and usually it's agreed upon cause both fighters are in similar situations.

B @bigface
It was a big deal when Pac asked for it. It was gay to me that he asked for any of them or put so much emphasis on weight in negotiations. It was also a big deal when Floyd agreed to one for Marquez then ignored it and cashed him out. Broner did the same thing. I lost what little respect I had for both of those dudes when they pulled that. Boxing is a tough freakin sport man. Most of y'all can't identify with the grind of holding down a full time job, being married, having kids AND trying to box for a living as well. A lot of dudes can't understand the feeling of having to justify to your wife why you can't give her a massage because you can hardly move your hands or it's tough to hold your infant child because you can barely lift your arms to begin with after a ridiculously long day or working and training. I can't identify of what it would be like to be at Escobedo's level then have a dude come in WAY over the limit on purpose when you're already a big underdog. Weightclasses exist for a reason and there are already 18 of them. To create a medium between 2 weightclasses 7 lbs apart from each other (147 to 154) when you're already a titlist in that division is hella gay and big time pussy nonsense. Wake up man. How can you defend this stuff?

2-0-Sixx @2-0-Sixx I agree with you and I've been saying that for the longest. but CZAR and them were saying Floyd don't need to fight Canelo, he's too big, Canelo don't deserve it, etc. Now the fight is on and they make it look like Floyd wasn't worried a little about Canelo. When it comes down to it, Floyds ppv #'s would have dropped while Canelo would have still fought on Sept 14 and hurt Floyds numbers even more. Money makes people change and once Floyd looses a fight, if he ever does, his value goes down a lot quicker than what people think.

Do you give credit to Chavez Sr, Oscar, B-Hop, Sugar Ray, and Manny credit for their catchweight fights?? If your answer is yes, then shut the fuck up about catchweights.

You haters are mad that Mayweather and Canelo is fighting. Now you guys have to start your discrediting of the the Mayweather win because it happens after every Mayweather fight.

FYI, I don't like the catchweight have stated these fact many time already. I understand the catchweight. The same people cosigning Ward vs. Dawson calling it a great win for Ward need to shut the fuck up. Remember Canelo called out Mayweather so you meet the guy you called out terms right Ward fans?? Mayweather wanted the fight at 147, so they made the fight at 152, because Mayweather wanted to be nice. Canelo is luck the fight is not at 147. Lol Now do yo want me to post you guys double standard comments from the Ward vs. Dawson thread.

The difference is, Dawson called out Ward and in the same breath said he would go to 168. Canelo isn't doing that then saying, let's fight at 147.

It doesnt matter because no way was Ward gonna fight Dawson at 175. Whether Dawson said he would go to 168 or not, Ward would have atleast made him agree to a ctachweight so whats your point? Got Em!!
