About the Record
Chosen as the closing film for the Sundance Film Festival, Nick Cassavetes' (The Notebook, John Q) Alpha Dog surprises the audience again and again. The cast not only makes the Los Angeles landscape come alive, but also creates deep, affecting relationships.

The story was inspired by actual events, revolving around a mid-level drug dealer from California's San Gabriel Valley, whose thirst for power led him to become the youngest man ever to appear on the FBI's Most Wanted list, at age 19. Emile Hirsch stars as teenage suburban drug dealer Johnny Truelove (based on the real life criminal Jesse James Hollywood), an ambitious young man whose lifestyle is a mecca for guns, sex and drugs. When a "client" cheats Johnny and a deal goes bad, he devises a plan to get his money back by kidnapping the client's younger brother. As The Hollywood Reporter put it, "Cassavetes simply plunges you into an unhealthy environment of social disintegration and never eases up."

The soundtrack is young, hip and gritty, consisting of classic '90s hip-hop, funk and rock that makes these streets come alive. Alpha Dog is rounded off with grooving, fresh, original hip-hop by Aaron Zigman, who also scored Cassavetes's The Notebook and John Q. This hip-hop was specifically written for the film, performed by a variety of artists.

Alpha Dog opens in wide release on January 12, 2007.
Cast Includes: Emile Hirsch (Lords of Dogtown), JustinTimberlake, Sharon Stone, Bruce Willis and more.

Soundtrack in stores January 9, 2007.

pretty tight got 3 songs in it...

thought it looked gay cuz of justin timberlake...but now i guess we have to watch it!
I get the impression that EVERYONE is going to be surprised by his performance in this film. The guy obviously has some talent in regard to the arts. Leonardo DiCaprio is an actor I've always hated growing up until I seen a few of the films he makes now (i.e. The Departed, Gangs of New York, Aviator). And, of course, Basketball Diaries.

Maxim gave Alpha Dog bomb ass reviews if memory serves, and if they push it in their mag- we can only hope movie-goers recognize Tech.

My main interest is...

Will Tech's music be played in the movie at all? Are we gonna recognize a tech beat or flow while sitting in the theatre?

Justin Timberlake will forever be labeled "gay" no matter what, I guess. But dude has grown up a lot from his N'SYNC days. I've heard his acting isn't too bad. We'll see.....

According to Tech's wife, you can hear his music several times throughout the movie. She's already seen it, so she would know. She mentioned one of the songs plays during the credits.

If I recall the person that did that beat said he wanted some obscene amount of money after the song was recorded...so they had Seven redo it.
so the movie production house paid him that money?

i think the version with seven is a smoother but i do like that OG beat too that i heard on the site

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm think the Aaron Zeigman guy did that track. He is a good friend of Cassavates and did alot of the scoring work for Alpha Dog.

I went to Itunes to buy the lalaland track, but no luck. You can't buy any of the tech tracks individually. You have to buy the whole album. Guess I'm off to the store tomorrow...
