Thizzler Jam was hella lit this Saturday<\/span><\/span>! On the 1700 block of Oakland’s San Pablo Street, history was made as\u00a0fans of Bay Area hip-hop gathered to enjoy the live sets of over 20\u00a0local artists on two separate stages. Excitement filled the air inside the New Parish, a venue that has hosted acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Kehlani, G-Eazy and many other national celebrities, as some of the hottest up & coming stars in the Bay Area scene performed and\u00a0connected face to face with their fans, some whom were just learning about the music\u00a0for the first time.\u00a0(Learn about them for yourself with our Thizzler Jam Soundcloud<\/a> & YouTube<\/a> playlists – official video recap coming soon!)<\/em><\/p>\n

Thizzler Jam, which first started in downtown Oakland in\u00a0August of 2015, is a celebration of Bay Area hip-hop that aims to showcase\u00a0promising local\u00a0acts with growing fanbases. Besides one performance slot that is reserved for a contest winner (this year – Spillatay<\/a>), every year the entire lineup is hand selected by the staff at Thizzler.com<\/a> based on talent, buzz and potential. By putting so many rising acts on the same bill, fans who may know one or two artists are exposed to other local artists they might like and leave with a few new songs to add to their playlists.<\/p>\n

Acts like funk\/hyphy fusion\u00a0Ezale<\/a>, former White Girl Mob member\u00a0Lil Debbie<\/a> and San Francisco’s Lil Yase<\/a>\u00a0held down the On The Roof stage inside New Parish, while outside in the courtyard\u00a0the Bay’s Most Wanted stage featured acts like Vallejo’s BlueJeans<\/a>,\u00a0Oakland to SF collaborators\u00a0Young Chop<\/a> and Molly G<\/a>, San Jose’s Lazy-Boy<\/a> and many more. While the day started with the unfortunate news that Keak Da Sneak would not be able to perform due to being arrested the night before, fans were treated to stellar performances from the rest of the lineup as well as “hella\u00a0surprise performances”:\u00a0Trill Youngins<\/a> of “I Look Fly Don’t I” fame performed some of their street hits, East Oakland veteran D-Lo<\/a>, best known for slaps such as “No Hoe”, “Get Her Tho” and “You Played Me” did a live set, the freshly released HD of Bearfaced<\/a>\u00a0came out for his first show since being home,\u00a0Birch Boy Barie<\/a> showed up with a message against police brutality,\u00a0and veteran emcee Zion-I<\/a> even came out to perform “Don’t Lose Your Head” and some new tracks.<\/p>\n
