{"id":70485,"date":"2016-01-13T17:07:12","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T01:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/siccness.net\/wp\/?p=70485"},"modified":"2016-01-13T17:07:12","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T01:07:12","slug":"universal-music-forms-agreement-with-soundcloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.siccness.net\/wp\/universal-music-forms-agreement-with-soundcloud","title":{"rendered":"Universal Music Forms Agreement with SoundCloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SoundCloud, a streaming music site that has <a title=\"Times article on SoundCloud.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/08\/21\/business\/media\/popular-and-free-soundcloud-is-now-ready-for-ads.html\">clashed with the music industry<\/a> as it grows more popular, has struck a long-awaited licensing deal with the Universal Music Group.<\/p>\n<p>The deal, to be announced Wednesday, will give SoundCloud access to Universal\u2019s catalog and let those artists make money from advertising when their songs are played on the free service, which is used by 175 million people around the world each month.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, SoundCloud reached an agreement with PRS for Music, a British songwriters\u2019 agency, ending a <a title=\"Times article on the lawsuit.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/08\/28\/business\/media\/soundcloud-sued-for-copyright-infringement-by-prs-for-music.html\">copyright infringement suit<\/a>.
